I implore you dear devs!
Since you don’t need to destroy you old spawn beacon to build a new one make it so that your own team can not destroy them. Its pretty annoying when leeches steal all your engineering points.
I’ve been noticing it more and more. Someone spawning on your beacon, destroy it, place their own. Just this last game, I built a spawn beacon at the start of the match, then a crate, this guy on my team was watching me, i built some sandbags, moved up and built some more sandbags. He runs up to my sandbags and destroys them, I turn around, my beacon is gone and he built his own beacon next to my crate/sandbags.
No spawn beacon is perfect, if you don’t like one don’t spawn on it a second time.
Though that’s why I dislike the change that bundles beacons together because if there’s a good and bad one nearby it can force you to spawn on the bad one.
Much of the time in order to make a safe spawn beacon, you need to make it in a place that gets bots stuck, or in Berlin can cause them to jump down to their deaths when they go the wrong way.
That seems like mostly if a pathing issue to get fixed more than anything else if I, a player, can get out safely but bots can’t.
I haven’t had a single instance where players/bots get stuck in walls etc. But spawns in areas where braindead bots get stuck happens from time to time. I simply don’t use them after the first time and take some time to get the bots unstuck.
But I’ve played to 29 on Normandy Allies, 20 on Moscow on allies, I’m about 10 on axis for both campaigns. I’ve found good spots and usually have a strategy for where to place them to win, if I play with my friends we can have good spawns rolling on invasion and conq to dominate.
But it’s frustrating to say the least when you miss out on 20+ engineering points because some asshole felt like they needed it better. Most games I spawn a squad with engineers first and get a beacon up pronto. Unless it’s invasion that beacon can last the whole 20 minutes.
Berlin has a lot of locations that are double-edged swords because of ledges and heights. It makes beacons hard to find and hard to destroy, but as a downside if you don’t make your way down correctly, which bots won’t, you’ll die of fall damage.
But it’s a risk you deliberately take when you spawn on them, especially the second time when you know what you’re spawning on.
The pictured one is one I built very high up and wiped a lot of bots out, but it was so close and so protected that we won at that objective because of it.
I spawned in one of those in an attic thought I was surrounded by zombies so I destroyed all the sandbags but the bots still could not use the ladder but at least I could move could not even jump over stuff.
Yes this is a thing I literally built a respawn, and walked out the building came back and teammate was laying there destroying it. Now this pisses me off more than anything especially when the respawn you got down was extremely hard to get to. No one except you, the creator of the respawn, should beable to destroy it on your team.
I really don’t get why someone would destroy a spawn beacon, that’s a great way to lose. You can generally build them quite close so build it in the next room over and allow more people to spawn on the spot or find a different angle. They should be fucking thankful there’s another competent person on their team.
i think they removed that function for teammates a while back, what the OP is referring to is the fact that they overlooked the rifle bash melee being able to instantly destroy friendly rally points… il be honest iv run into some ass holes on my team who bash my beacon and then replace it with their own thinking i just won’t notice the fact that i now have an available spawn beacon on my engineers building selection wheel even though there’s an active beacon where i just placed one
The lack of ability to destroy friendly rally points is also frustrating sometimes. There are some assholes that make one in an attic and surround the whole place with sandbags making the AI stuck in place. And in worse case, the attic has a window in direct line of sight of the enemy and they can wipe you as you spawn.
I didn’t know you could destroy them with melee. That’s a good thing tbh in the current state of the game. Unless devs fix thr AI path finding, this is a blessing in disguise.
My solution would be to increase the free space requirement around a rally point in order to be able to place it. Especially in the vertical, bc bots spawn on top of it and right into a roof, where they get stuck.
Another thing i already suggested was that the rally owner gets no other points from the rally but only a small percentage of the points spawned team mates acquire until their next death. So if you place a bad rally and the people that spawn there make no points so do you. If you place a good spawn and most survive and get some points so do you.
I myself placed a beacon in the top floor of a house. And when I respawned I was stuck with my bots in the roof. And so was anyone else who spawned on it. I had to destroy it.
Yeah. Happened to me a while back. But I was able to toss an explosive onto it and destroy it but at the cost of a squad. You can’t do that anymore and it absolutely ridiculous.
that’s only if people are smart enough to look in the attics… only time i find anyone looking in the attics is when your shooting down from them, its a fantastic spot for a spawn beacon especially when someone else doubles up another beacon after leaving the attic that way even if they destroy the beacon on the main floor you can respawn in the attic and just create another.
