New player here. Loving it! Just annoyed that tanks seem to be able to sit out off the playable area and wipe out armies with no chance of being taken out. Particularly german tanks on Normandy. They can sit so far away that you can’t even call artillery strike on them and if you try to run up to them it tells you to get back to the battle. Meanwhile They sit there in complete safety vaporizing your entire force. Seems pointless.

That is useless anyway.
Well as a Tanker you either :
A) Push forward and immediately die to an Explosives Pack
Or
B) Camp the back of the map and hope the Pilots on the enemy team are trash

Possible ways to ruin a camping tanker’s day:

Best way is to take a plane and bomb/rocket him. (Tanks make huge flashes and smoke when shooting, it shouldn’t be difficult to spot them from the air, even if nobody pings them.)

Take a tank and snipe him back. (This may not work if you only have tanks with small guns and the enemy is a heavy that knows what to do.)

Take engineer squad, build AT gun and shoot him. (Again, may not work vs heavy tanks.)

If it’s just beyond the grey zone line but not far behind, banzai charge with a TNT pack. Aim for the belly, the middle of the tracks or the roof. BOOM.

Shoot him with AT soldier. (Results depend on which AT weapon you have available.)

Almost forgot, mortars CAN shoot into the grey zone and damage tanks, but you need a direct hit on a weak spot and dispersion means you need to be lucky.

How so?
You can kill tanks with artilley.
And even if you can’t see any smoke from the tank you can just quickly spam V as you fly in until you ping a tank yourself. Rarely have I ever not been able to ping a tank from the air.

Or just grab any vehicle, drive full speed into the grey zone unseen and take out the tank with TNT.
Of course you die too, but this is war.
Very rewarding to do because they dont expect you to do this.
Is it me, or is the “pinging crosshair” in planes a little lower than the actual gun sight?

Yes I believe so
Possible, but chance are very low. If the tank is capable to annoy you in grey zone without getting kill by your team’s tank, It should have the armor to block artillery.
Oh, on a side note, if you play US you should probably hunt tanks with P-38’s rockets, apparently they’re so strong that some German tankers get really mad.

@77831418 have had the same experience, particularly in Normandy. However I have experienced the other side of things as I play primarily Axis. Allies Normandy Jumbos camping in grey-zone are a PAIN to eliminate. Especially if you do not have any high level Axis vehicles.
The rockets on the P-47 I think are better at killing a tank plus the 500lbs bomb then what available on the 38
