No, it’s exactly as easy as I make it out to be, mainly because I said that it’s not easy. But it is very much possible. And there are people that can use it from far away.
Yeah, mind giving us Pz IV at level 2 to battle the Stuart? I mean, everyone will unlock it at some point right? Bruh, do you know how many people are lvl 28 as a nation as opposed to how many people are level 10? I don’t see jumbo in every single game, it’s a rare tank and I know not many people have it. That’s why I’m fine with it being really strong. It has better stats, it’s strong, you obtain it later in the campaign. PIAT is also a really strong weapon. Oops, you obtain it with your very first bombers before any actual grind starts. That might be the reason why every second US squad I encounter has at least one.
Good players should be rewarded for their aiming skills.
Yet more and more people will get it over time, as the amount of people who keep playing will be higher than new people coming in, so over time the average level for players will go up. Moving something powerful to a higher level only delays the issue. It fixes nothing, especially with the lack of any actual matchmaking system. The difference between a veteran player and a new player is simply too large.
Yeah, but the reward should be earned, if you snipe the right spot from 60 meters to cripple the tank and then use other means to flank the tank and destroy it, good job. If you hide in a bush out of sights and either oneshot the tank (if you are “lucky”) or just cripple it heavily with the chance to finish the job in the next 2 seconds that’s not very earned. The weakness of tanks is close combat, a good tanker tries to have allied infantry around him to protect him while avoiding narrow spaces that the enemy inf could use to flank and destroy the tank. This whole weakness is useless since you can sit on spawn and blast tanks from anywhere with no downside.
Yeah, and old people will stop playing, and new players will start meaning the PIAT will always be less available. Still waiting for FG 42, Pz IV, Jumbo or A20 on level 2 since everyone will get it eventually.
A solution to this was to limit the ammo for the ranged anti-tank weapons more. But at the same time, that may be too punishing as the damage models aren’t even near being consistent enough to guarantee a certain outcome if you aim at a certain spot.
damage is better now and for someone’s rage it’s quite realistic unlike what we have in bugtunder. main thing that lets tank live-low usage rate of rifles and ATs, also low skill of most players. the things that cut tactics- cramped maps with much buildings that let you destroy anything that moves worse than puma. in perfect variant we should have objective for aviation, AT guns and rifles to kill armor if it annoys too much and big maps with good survivability for vehicles recieving damage of most cannons except monstrous calibers with 100+ grams of explosives.
To OP’s point, can you really “cook” TNT like you can a Frag Grenade? If not, then there’s your answer. If so, then there’s your answer.
Somehow I don’t think TNT should be “cookable” but that’s just me. That change alone would make tanks WAY harder to deal with though so I’m on the fence.
the bazooka has a zeroing of 100 meters with a velocity of 93m/s much faster than piats and sturmpistole velocity, and the panzerschrek is most similar to bazooka anyways
Feel like its not that much of a problem. You should have to rely on infantry to push with tank support. I’ve seen so many players drive tanks around running whole squads over before being able to kill it with a AT grenade.
Yes, tanks need infantry support and that works really well on Moscow and Berlin, but Normandy… I’m getting a feeling that maps are inspired by COD or old BF, because ranges at which fight happen are almost always under 50 meters. You push to the point with infantry, keep you distance to cover them and in 5 seconds there is no friendly infantry anymore. It’s like one gigantic cqb set of maps. I’ve got bombed like 5 times with explosive kit in the middle of the friendly infantry because it’s super easy to flank and get close on these maps. I’ve died like a single time to piat and maybe 10 times to tanks, the rest is just explosive packs.
Because of layout of the maps, which is very different from Moscow, you just have to roll over enemy troops, you can’t do like in moscow - keep about 100 meters between you and where enemies are coming from and control one flank, there is nothing like that here. I don’t think tanks need a buff, we need better maps. I’m going to finish lat battle task and abandon Normandy campaign, it’s just bad for this type of game.
Yeah, cooking it is a bit of BS. It’s super easy to learn to kill tanks with a single pack, there is no skill involved. AT rifles, sturmpistole, Piat at least require a bit of understanding where to aim. Explosive packs are just easy mode, especially in Normandy.
And the bigger problem with explosive packs is that they make AT squads irrelevant. In Moscow campaign, AT rifles squad, on German side, sucks because 90% of tanks are T-60 and it’s really hard to kill them with AT rifle. But you still can hunt others. On Normandy, there is no point in using piat or sturmpistole as you can easily get to the tank really close.
I don’t know if others had similar experience but my AT squads end up being the least performing. If I try to do a match with tank hunting, best I’ve got is like 6th place. Sometimes you get a lucky shot and hit ammunition or fuel tank, but more often you kill a crew, tanker is trying to change sits and someone from your team just kamikaze it with explosive pack. Like why do I even bother.
I think if they remove, or if we can’t cook those TNT it will be a reward for those tanks drivers who rush everywhere firing and driving over infantry, you can’t even stop properly with dedicated AT weapons.
I love tanks, and have no problem with them, im always side by side with infantry on the front, not a big deal, people have to learn something basic which is “situational awareness” if you learn that you can be extremely dangerous as a tank or as infantry.
For those talking about cooking TNT and being kamikaze, i can do the same thing to clear a point, “a yolo rush”, thats how i clear a place with a lots of guys, i don’t care if die, i can respawn or use any other AI member of the squad, this is not real life, so saying “a tank should scare everyone” is bs i don’t care about exp, i care about clearing something for my team so they can capture or being a hell of anyone there. So i don’t see the point of this “nerf”, if you die in your tank bad luck try again when you can, thats how this game works, you either kill or die simple.
Tanks are fine, infantry is fine, stick with your team, check the minimap, hear your sorroundings, learn your tank, don’t stay at the same place for too long… done you can survive a whole match without dying and getting over 130 kill with over 200 assists and 4+ armors destroyed, you don’t need to be pro, i suck at this game and yet im very useful for the team.
Cooking TNT is fine, just a problem that they can land anywhere and take out the tank. How are they more destructive than a shell fired from a cannon. They should have to land on or under the tank not simply beside it.
The cooking of TNT is the thing that encourages yolo rushing in a tank as you suggest. Staying on the move effectively eliminates the cooked TNT threat. What’s XP got to do with it?
I’m the one that commented around tanks being fearsome for infantry. It is a joke how easily you can destroy the strongest tanks in the game, or any tank with TNT. If you cant get to a tank in any situation where it is being useful your infantry needs work. Your win rate while playing tank will show you how effective you are. I stand by my point that out of tanks, anti tank guns and cannons, planes with bombs and an explosive pack only one of them is any real threat. Seriously, on D Day the enemy can set up an anti tank cannon and fire at tanks and it does nothing. I can get hit with anti tank guns and it does nothing. those need buffs to make them useful. It makes the other anti tank methods obsolete for the most part. Infantry now go out of their way, head on rushing to die to MG fire and the tank main gun. You would be surprised at home many infantry I kill every game who is holding an explosive pack waiting for it to cook. The power of the pack makes for lazy play.
Check the comments, someone said something about no exp for those ppl.
Now the AT gun is little bit weird, a few days ago i saw a P IV H being crush with 2 shots, he wasn’t even able to spot the AT; so one shot, the Panzer was on fire, second shot, destroyed… and another day i saw like 5 shots bouncing from a Puma… on the side, and i think the guy in it didn’t even knew wtf was happening before he moved away.
With the TNT there’s a few problems too, if you throw it under a tank sometimes is does nothing, i know this first hand, wasting like 3 or 4 TNTs before blowing the damn thing, and it was a Stuart lol.
And if you wan’t a “scare factor” in a FPS, you are wrong, this is not real life, ppl will rush to kill you no matter what, even more if they can respawn 5 seconds later, i play planetside 2 a lot, and the new carriers there scare no one, and those things are huge and have a lot of firepower and yet… everyone rush to destroy them and they can fall in a few minutes (and you farm for hours to get one in the sky). You can scare your enemy until he realize how to counter you.
