In a 5 crew tank there’s a machine gunner who is absolutely doing nothing except taking a dead guy seat. But he’s got a machine gun ! Suggestion is : can’t he give some automatic covering fire ? No need to be perfect aim, just fire randomly in front of the tank, keep enemy heads down. But if the tank is not moving, in a street, enemy just charge without any smoke / cover / etc. I guess that machine gunner would do some serious damage. Maybe he could also be turned passive / aggressive on command like squad. What are you thinking?
Try Jagdpanther, there they have implemented MG mechanics probably as they plan in every tank in the future.
In Jagdpanther the tank commander has control over the MG gunner, but you can also switch to MG gunner, which has its own sight.
You’re right i just try it but when i play its mostly Axis Normandy and my tank is Tiger E. It would be perfect if i command turret and my machine gunner automatically fire at enemy. Not really important to be able to BE machine gunner but good if possible sure
It is a nerf when they implement independent Mg gunner mechanic to tank destroyer. Because it means that you can’t use Mg in main gunner view like other tank destroyer. Tank destroyer already have limited anti infantry ability, doing it is just making the situation worse.
I see it now, and it’s not just tank destroyers problem. In the T-28, all the machine guns work when you are the gunner, in the M-3 only works when you are the commander
I think being able to toggle that On/Off would be the best solution. That way when you don’t need to control it, it can work on its own, and when you do wish to control it, you can.
many people sugested this, DEV,s need some time to work on it.
anyway, good to talk about some important topics again and again.
cheers.
They figured it out for planes. Can’t see why they can’t do the same for tanks.
