Be careful guys, when a tank grenade, of any composition explodes near the infantry, serious injuries and death occur. So a machine gun is not the only one that can do them harm. I understand, this is a video game and some balance is needed. But this is a video game that pretends to be serious in this genre. Tank grenades hurt people if you hit them. Been there, done that. Unfortunately. When you do that in a game and nothing happens, that game seems ridiculous. Your game is fun, dynamic, I like it. Make it a little more realistic though.
Detpacks certainly hurt infantry in Enlisted
Are you okay?
You might want to double check that, not only there are no AT grenades in the game but a det pack, that you are most likely referring to is very deadly to the infantry.
This has been my finding too, in fact Iāve used barely any normal grenades whatsoever. My American squads, which are the ones I use the most by far (like 90% or more of the time, Iām on the US team), have nothing but those bundles of TNT. Not one single pineapple grenade, not one single Molotov Cocktail, not one single smoke grenade. If I have to face a tank, I want to ensure my troops can do SOMETHING to deal with it even if the squad doesnāt have a bomber. It has been my experience that those TNT packs can very much take out the enemy. Maybe it shouldnāt be quite as effective as the normal grenade (which can also be thrown farther) because it has the benefit of fragmentation, but I find that the ātank grenadesā can indeed kill enemies. They seem to be quite devastating within buildings.
Yeah, the only real downside that Iāve noticed thus far is that they canāt be thrown as far and they weigh twice as much. As mentioned, maybe the fragmentation grenades have a bigger kill and/or injure radius due to aforementioned fragmentation, I donāt know, havenāt tried any experimentation, but my US soldiers carry nothing but those bundles of dynamite and theyāve been serving me pretty darn well. Still working on getting all USSR soldiers outfitted with them. I also tend to have at least one soldier in each squad given a grenade pouch, with at least one large grenade pouch in circulation, so each squad basically has a minimum of about 4-8 bundles of dynamite, depending on size.
Enemy tanks do NOT want to get close to me unless they intend to not stop moving. Even then Iāve managed to destroy/incapacitate/damage tanks fairly often. I might experiment with letting my troops have a chance at throwing grenades at tanks, I dunno, but I DID discover in practice before the whole āSquad AI looking away from the tank JUST before they throwā issue, and it was hysterical to witness. They all run up with their packs of dynamite, stop, and immediately turn around and throw it in the opposite direction before running back to me lmao Pretty damn funny, I hope someone got footage of that because apparently thatās been undone xD
Do u mean the tank shell? if that so the HE shell obliterates infantry, the ap canāt really do much without an explosion.
Same here mate. All of my squads minus armor, are carrying det packs. Very effective against infantry.
Are you 100% positive that you are throwing the detpack towards the inf and not away from them? xD
Why not armour? Do you carry smoke instead to conceal your tankers while you repair? I think that the ādet packsā as everyone seems to call them, are the better option. I found it quite enjoyable, even humourous, when I exited my damaged tank with the enemy tank that took it out nearby, tossed my ādetpackā at it, and managed to blow it up. Even got at least one of my tankers to safety and may have managed to light up a few enemy infantry with my M3 before they took me out. But yeah, if only I managed to blow up the enemy before they finished off my tank, could have repaired it and got back into the fight. Also, if a tank takes out yours from close distance and your tankers donāt have detpacks⦠theyāre basically helpless to the tank. They can do nothing but try to run away. At least if you give them det packs you can have them one-by-one toss their explosives at the enemy before the attempt to flee.
Iād love to be able to carry grenades or something other than det packs but itās kinda hard when you face an endless stream of tanks yoloswagging at you or spawn camping you.
Yeah, it would be more accurate and realistic to carry ACTUAL grenades. So whatās the alternative? Make sure that every single infantry squad has an anti-tank gun of some sort? I guess, that, or if a tank comes close then you run like mad because youāre completely helpless. I donāt like the feeling of being helpless, thus carrying around those bundles of dynamite is necessary.
What about another method of soldiers being able to take out tanks? Well, there wasnāt really a one-fits-all anti-tank weapon that the average soldier could carry around until the throw-away ones like the Panzerfaust. Easy to use and disposable⦠but letting US troops spawn with those on D-Day would utterly ridiculous. I donāt know of an equivalent that the US had, I donāt think they had one.
Doesnāt really seem to be a solution here, even giving all soldiers one of those ādetpacksā is in and of itself unrealistic I suspect. Do we limit access to them to engineers and bombers? That would certainly make it more realistic I think, though dealing with tanks would be more difficult, and DAMN would I have like 20 ādetpacksā sitting uselessly in storage because I can only give them to a select few units.
Well, a sort of middle-ground would be that if you throw a detpack while thereās no enemy tanks within, say, 30m of you, then you throw a grenade instead. If there IS a tank within 30m of you, youāll actually throw the pack. One explosive, but what it is is dependent on whether thereās a tank nearby or not. Thatās the best I can come up withā¦
The more you throw detpacks with a soldier the further they should be able to throw them and the higher melee damage they should do
Hucking 3kg packs left and right builds muscle
getting yoked af with the bois.
Yes! I carry smoke grenades on my armor squad to at least try and conceal them for a repair!
Yeah I carry smokes/AT grenades on my tank crews
Same with my bomber squads. Smokes can help maneuvering on a tank thatās camping.
The smoke actually appears quickly enough to prevent your squad from getting wiped out. If your tracks get busted or something and you need to get out while enemies are relatively near, I find that typically Iāll lose some stupidly aggressive AI bots by the time Iām done repairing. Thankfully, thus far, usually at least one of them survives to serve as driver.
i didnt know this but when you hop out of the tank (if you have enough time) you can press x looking at the tank and your AI will hop back in. Kinda nice if you get smoked outside of the tank your guys should have gotten back in
They tend to stay and shoot if there is an enemy close by. Imho we need to different actions for getting out as current tanker and full bail out.
Even better would be some grenade ports, so you could throw it out before exiting or to kill infantry that is camping next to the tank.
My apologies, this was meant to be a question.
Genius. Iāve already learned that I can put AI into AA guns, donāt know if they actually use them or not, or if they do if itās at all effective, but it is DEFINITELY handy to put the bots back in the tank. Tanks can be blown up, it seems, much easier when nobody is in the tank. Iām going to remember this gem of genius.
That would be very handy, yes. Even if the commander can stick himself out of the tank and throw a grenade. The driver and machine gunner in a Sherman should also be able to stick themselves out, really. The ability to perform actions while stuck out of a tank ought to be improved, including shooting, even though that wouldnāt be all that useful I donāt think given youād probably be more effective while IN the tank and using the tank gun/MG itself.
It would be nice if there was a command to keep your AI in the tank before you even jump out.
