I don’t see a problem there if a player wants to shoot themself in the foot or play casually.
The point is to try reducing the impact of strong tanks on the players who have to fight them, not be minimally rewarding to the players using them. The idea is to force scarcity in a reasonable way that sustains a year into launch when everyone is high level.
Infinite positive feedback loops are the bane of games like this.
Strong players just snowball and avoid limitations that wind up just stopping above-average players from moving up and having the equipment to threaten strong players.
Strong players in turn all form clans or play the same factions.
As was seen in Dust 514, my source for predicting all things enlisted.
No exaggeration all of the major clans joined forces to farm good gear off of lower levels without challenging eachother.
I don’t understand those games.
What’s the point of even trying to fight? If you see that enemy is winning then you just leave the match because it will be only worse.
This is why I don’t want it.
That’s why I don’t like competitive, Esport-ish games (with high concentration of tryhards per square meter).
When I play the game I just want to rest, not master my skills in God knows what.
My idea is to remove tanks from player control entirely - make them entirely AI, and rather conservative/passive AI at that - by which I mean they will not go swanning around at 50kph trying to spawn camp.
Instead they will follow your infantry squad and support it - you can designate general area targets for them to overwatch for example. It would help if they did not have the current infantry AI insta-see-and-kill capability of course!!
They also drive off when your current squad is killed… so you don’t get them for hte whole game - and they have a cool down timer as now so you can’t jsut call tehm up again straight away.
Accompanying this - remove the compulsory requirement to have a vehicle in your 4 squad lineup - so if you do not choose to have a tank then you can field 4 infantry squads.
I mean iirc it was part of the original concept but as far as I’m aware bot tanks were never actually attempted, they just said they were planning on all vehicles being bots with fixed behaviors.
Enlisted is combined arms, it will just ruin the gameplay imo
Plus, AI tanks would be very… clumsy
They’ll probably get always stuck in tank traps, aim for only one enemy instead of group of enemies, thus providing limited support by them
Also, it will upset a lot of players who love driving them and devs already introduced observation devices and are developing tank enterior
