Tank balance is off (Normandy)

Ok so where is the tiger as jumbo counter then? Or at least the panther, I mean didn’t they reach Normandy WAY WAY befor the jumbo did?

Maybe because the muricans never fought tigers.

And instead of thinking on how to counter a jumbo, why not insthead remove it?

Like, ok, you can technically add a panther, or a tiger ( despite not being historically accurate. The same could be said about jumbos ), point is, explain me how m5s and m8s are supposed to destroy a tiger. ?

You are not solving the issue, you are just creating one on top of another problem.

That’s why jumbo must be replaced.

There should be a balance between tanks, like somewhat the Moscow ones, each tank can pen each other.

I mean tbf since its normandy I just leave this here
German WWII Tiger I Tanks in Normandy, schwere Panzer Abteilung (LoneSentry.com)
Tigers where at Normandy and fought vs the Allies

Mostly by Canadians and British forces.

Not Americans.

Like, Americans encountered 3 tigers in the whole war but those were after the Normandy landing.

Edit - I see we’ve already covered the Jumbo and Firefly at Normandy issues.

The problem with trying to find “equivalents” is that ther aren’t any for many vehicles.

The Sherman and Mk 4 F2 are pretty OK - both can easily penetrate each other - outside of that Tigers and Panterhs 1 on 1 are way outside hte class of allied tanks - but the allies had otehr advantages - air power, plenty of supply, lots of tanks, etc - but nont of those matter in Enlisted.

And that is one of the game’s big failings - it is trying to provide equivalences where there were not any, and the shoe-horning of equipment into slots that didn’t actually exist shows up pretty quickly.

TLDR: there is no “tank balance” at Normandy historically - and you can’t balance Panthers and Tigers against anything the allies had at the time.

The Americans also didn’t have Jumbos until September 1944. I think we can safely discount realism as being a factor here.

As I said it depends how far you extend the definition of the campaign. But overall yes you are correct.

The usual definition is 6 June - 30 August - ending when Canadian tropos crossed the Seine and entered Rouen

I mean the M2 Carbine entered service in 45 but I get your point. Still. Firefly instead of Jumbo would be nice.

I think that given the Axis get 2 marks of Pz 4 (in the wrong order!!) perhaps the US should just get 2 marks of M4 - 75mm and 76mm - both were actually in service in Normandy!

i say give america the 105 sherman since the theme for american tanks in the game is infantry support

The 105 should replace the M8

i don’t think so since the 105 shermans have more armor than the Panzer 3 N, and when it get’s its gun fixed it will be more comparable to the m8 instead of a sherman

The P3N has much better armour than the M8, which has the added disadvantage of an open top to further make it worse protected - there is no perfect equivalence!

At each level there is some form of difference - the Sherman 105 is not particularly heavily armoured - the 75mm HEAT is easily able to penetrate it at almost all angles - and has a slow rate of fire and excruciatingly slow turret traverse, so it is not as overwhelming as you might think

What the J literally was a weaker H but ok

They were built in opposite order is all - J’s supplanted H’s on the production line, even though it is considered a retrograde step mainly due to slower turret traverse due to removal of electric traverse system… so yeah a bad example I guess
