I just unlocked the SBD Dauntless dive bomber for Pacific and I go to take off and immediately fly off and lose altitude and crash into the water. how the hell am I supposed to take off in this thing, not to mention last couple of days has been a pain in the ass on enlisted no matter which campaign I play every dumb try hard has been playing axis and bullying people. and I’m getting put on 90% noob allied teams
Flaps set to take off and Max power, keep it level on the flight deck, to the last minute to build up speed.
It will help when you can improve it, wait till you get the TBF, that thing makes the SeaGull look good
Is the TBF considered bad? I have a lot of fun with it.
You lower the flaps to the take-off setting to level the plane, then lift them up, and just before the end of the deck put the flaps back to the take-off setting.
You retract the landing gear and for a while you fly straight on the flaps in take-off setting. The plane set horizontally with flaps in the take-off setting slowly gains altitude without losing speed.
use flaps and keep your eyes down, if you keep it up you will go up and immediately lose energy, and visit spongebob, give me a second i can upload a video
but you crashed !?
I found that I could take off with the flaps up, I would lose altitude for a bit and almost touch the water though.
People say to use flaps but you really don’t need to, not if you keep the plane level when taking off. Rather than keeping the nose pointed up, point the nose down to be just a little above the horizon during takeoff so you get the whole length of the carrier deck to accelerate you. The catapult isn’t fully simulated, the plane is just given extra acceleration so long as the wheels are touching the deck so you don’t want to leave the carrier until the last second, just be sure to lift the nose after.
Yeah - takeoff flaps aren’t required - they slow the plane down and you’re better off with the extra 5kph for not using them.
Apply full/110% power - when you get to 20-30 kph you can gently lower the nose to raise the tail - this cuts drag and increases acceleration.
Keep the gunsight pointing at the middle of hte flight deck, just above it - depending on the a/c you’ll get to 125-200 kph on hte flight deck - when you leave just raise hte wheels and go into a gentle climb while building speed - you really want to get to about 200 kph before doing any “serious” climbing IMO
Avenger is fine - get the gold order one if you can - it is fully upgraded and you’ll notice the extra speed
Towards what the big guys above have said, pay attention to detail and gain experience.
It’s not difficult to take off and land a ju188 even from an aircraft carrier.

lol - that’s pretty cool!
The landing model is quite simplified - all you have to do is “land” with wings reasonably level and the game will accept that, you’ll be automatically brought to a stop quickly, then returned to take-off in a couple of seconds.
It doesn’t matter where on teh deck you land, but it does have to be ON the deck, and as long as you don’t hit the island or immediately skid off the side it’s fine.
Yes. No explosions, no death penalty, and stranded on the deck they can be traded in for new ones.
One thing to note tho - repairing doesn’t replace dead crew - they stay dead.
