Wouldn’t it be better to make Italy its own faction and exchange the Italian weapons on the German tree for Czech weapons?
Not really
Nah.
No, because Italy losses nothing if they remain a subfaction (given that they finally get their own squads, soldiers and apperances out side of Tunisia) but players that enjoy having both Italian and German squads at the same time would lose this option and instead be forced to play either only Italy or Germany.
Another issue is filling up the Italian tech tree.
Italy would need to get some obscure paper designs as well as some German equipment to give them a fighting chance, but why seperate them if you only end up grinding the same German gun in both factions.
The final and most prelevant problem is the playerbase, its already bad enough that Japan and US doesn’t have 1BR up/down tier so adding new factions would stretch the playerbase even more, pontially breaking the sweet almost 1:1 player ratio between Axis and Allies (it took a year to get here, before that balance was terrible with some battles starting with only one side having human players)
Thanks for the review, in any case what they should do is put the weapon variants/improved versions in sub-lots like they did with the Beretta M1918 and the OVP1918, I think that way it wouldn’t take so long to obtain the others
If there was a hypothetical Italian faction, it should ideally be put in the exact same queue as people playing as Germany. Maybe you’d get a Berlin game with 8 players as germany and 4 players from italy together or a Moscow game with 9 players from italy and 3 players from germany together. Either way, the total amount of game queues would remain the same
Than why seperate them?
If you don’t even want battles with Germans or Italians only than there is zero point!
So the German equipment gets to go to Germany and the Italian equipment gets to go Italy. Yes, I know they shared and borrowed equipment from each other, but not to the degree as it is shown in game
It completely depends on DF, not on anything else. Who knows what they are thinking.
I understand this argument for the British (though fixing tech-tree bloat might well require at least a “soft seperation” of subfactions, such as through sub-trees), but in a future Italian campaign (which I hope we’ll get to see some day) I belive Italians should be able to fight on either side of it (even at the same time, if the game could handle seperate Kingdom of Italy and Republic of Italy uniforms for the same campaign).
Allies did not trust Italians with combat roles, only a handful of Italian soldiers had fought on the side of the Allies so those could be well or even over represented with premium and event squads.
I am fine with Britain and Italy remaining subfactions…for now…and I do wish in the future…especially Britain…becomes an independent faction
But if for now they must remain attached to America and Germany they MUST be fully fleshed out as subfactions because they have been neglected since the beginning
- add every Squad type and class
- cosmetics
- weapons, equipment, vehicles, and planes added to RT
Perhaps Britain, Italy, and even future “subfactions” could be added as a separate and distinct tree/line within their faction. American line, British line,
I don’t really think 1/8 of all combat personnel in Italy is that small and I would like to see there being the option of fielding a full Italian lineup were such a campaign to come into existance. Brazil is more deserving the honour of token representation of a premium squad with only 26k across two service branches present in Italy, more so than the quatre of a million to half a million troops that the Kingdom of Italy fielded (depending on at what point in the war).
There were more Italians in front-line service than Free Fr*nch, and I also belive the Fr’nch should be another full lineup subfaction just like I hope we’ll see for Italy and the British Commonwealth some day.
