Suggestions for more diverse units

The issue isn’t solely about the introduction of female soldiers, it’s the way to go about doing it. It is absurd to assume or state that men and women had a 1:1 role within their respective nations militaries. They all had different roles that were important in their own regards to the war effort, but Enlisted is about Front line soldiers getting into conflict, not about an FOB where they treat the wounded, or the home front producing armaments or manning Anti-Aircraft weaponry or any other form of defense. I personally don’t have an issue with diversity if it is done in respect to history. Yes, women fought in the frontlines for the Soviet Army, there is German propaganda that proves this. The absurdity would come to assume that it’s 50/50. It would be a much better solution to relegate these inclusions to premium squads, event squads, etc. O

I agree completely with you (though I’m not a fan of locking this feature behind a paywall) - I don’t want a 1:1 ration of male and female soldiers either, and I never argued for that anywhere in this thread. That would be ridiculous. Even a 70%-30% split would be unreasonable, unless we’re talking of partisan forces where women were indeed on the frontlines of armed combat in much greater numbers than in any regular armies - and not even just as unarmed or pistol-carrying medics but troopers armed with rifles and SMGs too. By random female soldiers I meant something like a 1 in 5 chance for a single soldier in a new squad to be female, usually sniper or medic.

However, the issue of different nationalities and ethnic groups fighting in the war can be much more easily fixed. For Poles in the Red Army (forgetting about the Armia Ludowa, Armia Krajowa, the II Corps, etc. for a moment) it would simply be a matter of introducing Polish names; Poles and ethnic Russians, Belarusians, Ukrainians are all Slavs and look generally quite similar. Russians of Tatar or other non-Slavonic origin are a bit different, of course, but some more Asian faces are already included in the game. A patch to add more Polish names would be very fast, simple, and easy to implement without breaking anything. Adding unique Polish, Yugoslav, French, and other units with own weaponry is something to think of more down the line.

I just really don’t understand why some of the people posting here are opposed to the Polish example in particular. Percentage-wise Poland suffered the largest number of casualties during WW2 than any other country, over 17% of its 1939 population with 240,000 military dead (partisan forces, mostly civilian, are not included in this number!) and 766,606 military dead - the total death count is at around 6 million (3 million Jewish Poles, 3 million gentile Poles). So much fighting took place on areas with majority Polish populations…

There were even some Polish conscripts in Wehrmacht, usually the ones “lucky” enough to have some known German heritage at the time, but most of them deserted or mutinied to the Allied side.

I still think the 1 in 5 chance is a bit too high, I think that event squads (could be partisans or certain historical divisions) and/or gold troop orders would be the best way to go about adding them. It’s the same how I view African-American divisions for the US. Since the Army was segregated, it would be more accurate to have them as special squads, like they did the pilot. I don’t really take much issue with the ethnic additions though, if they are integrated and are historical. The issue is that I would assume the Polish would need new voice lines, and the major concern would be accurately depicting them, as people pointed out the addition of the Italians was lackluster (in terms of names, equipment, frequency, etc)

That’s fair, well put.))

ahhh my friend Snaut…Come and See…critically acclaimed as the best war movie of all time and the most realistic. So shockingly realistic that soviet authorities censored the production for 8 years. Director Klimov used his true experiences and said that if he had put in everything that he had seen and done, he couldn’t watch the movie. When shown in germany, a german Wehrnacht officer said “Everything in this movie is true and the most shameful thing for me is this film will be seen by my children and grandchildren.”
For those that want to honor the 800,000 Russian female soldiers who fought in combat and were not nurses, secretaries or clerks, but actual combat soldiers, the movie , “A zori zdes tikhie”…or"The Dawns Here Are Quiet" . A moving anti war movie that focuses on a garrison of Russian female soldiers. It is considered on of the best world war 2 movies. This movie was remade for Russian TV and was very well received.
My friend Snaut, I salute your opinions.

Diversity adds little. Especially in this game where the ugly faces and names dont add anything of substantial gameplay value

Thank you, friend. Your contribution here put a smile on my face. Also, I’ll have to check out “А зори здесь тихие…” - both the 1972 original and the 2015 remake, as I haven’t heard about this film until now. Thanks!
