Suggestion: Solution for too many squads

I picked up game today and just spent unreasonable amount of time to sort, kind of, squads up.

It feels that there is too many squads in nations. I know they are kind of different from each other, but not much in practical way and the list does not show what is different. At least from perspective of player that haven’t actively played for months now. I actually had to play two battles to even post that.

I can’t see them being reduced in numbers because selling premium squads is sort of part of a business model. So what is the solution?

I was thinking about one, but while writing this exact line I came with a second one.

so… to the point:

  1. Separate squads tree instead of list. Where squads are branching from squad class in order they are researched or historical time line (?). Not much of a change, rather means to organise squads.
  2. Instead of fitting separate squads into the active squad slots, player chooses squad class (e.g… engineers) and from there actual squad type (e.g. 54th Pioneer Battalion) as a modifier. Each type could still be upgradable as it is now. When changing types, all interchangeable troops could stay in line-up.

Its a quick thought, I haven’t been thinking much on it but I hope it could be use as a base to some sort of solution because right now the squad management is off-putting even though I like general development direction.

ADDING A SELL OPTION FOR UNNECESSARY SQUADS

There are leftover squads from the old Enlisted that are not tied to the Research tree. In some cases, these squads are no different from the new ones, and there may be so many of them that they make it difficult to navigate the squad selection menu.

We will add the ability to sell such squads for a significant amount of Silver. You’ll be able to get rid of duplicates or ineffective squads that you don’t plan to use anyway. Thus making the squad selection easier.

Right now, I don’t even know what, or if anything I would like to sell. Like I said, I don’t really know what are the differences between most of the squads.

On the other hand, I’m kind of a collector in nature. Why would I sell unique squad that cant be researched anymore?

I wouldnt. Especiallly since different squads of the same types have different specialists or you can build them differently.

Not all engineer squads are equal for example

some can build mgs
some can build apolumets
some can take Double AT specialists
some can have paratrooper uniforms

Hold onto them all!!!

there are just way too many things unfinished for a good merger update. Like I think they only nake 40%-50% of the necessary things

I don’t really mind, its overall step in right direction. I try to look at bigger perspective hoping that Enlisted will be supported the way WT is (in terms of longevity).

As game will progress, selling squads is not a fix, my advise is not to invest any time and effort in that mechanic. No matter what, there will be more and more squads. We need good UI and mechanic solution.

I hope they can make a “squad create” system I have been talking about

just a intro about the system I think about. you make a squad by create one. in the squad detail screen the only difference is squad symbol and name are customizable
the honer upgrade will be seperated from squad. Like if you want to upgrade a tier2assault you have to get xp using one.
for squad honer upgrade like engineer/at selection. Just abandon it and have both
what is left of old squad are their names and their symbol

They like to come up with the worst possible solution

Any player that starts playing after the merge will have a fraction of the number of squads that an original player would have.

Which engineers have paratrooper uniforms?

bah. got it confused with the mortar squad I was building.

But same principle. One of the mortar squads has a paratrooper uniform

I didn’t check, but don’t all mortar squads in Normandy default to that uniform? Because it’s the only Normandy Mortar squad.

Could be the case. I need to check now. I just assumed it was because this squad was a “fallschirmjager” squad

Likewise all riflemen squads in Berlin default to Volkssturm, EXCEPT the other riflemen squad that was actually from Berlin.
The Volkssturm AT are the default because they are the only AT squad.
The Luftwaffe Feld Machinegun squad in Berlin is the default for MGs, but the Luftwaffe Feld Flamethrower squad is NOT the default for Flamethrowers.
