Suggesting primary weapons for Soviet Union

Basically mirror thread for this:

There, the PzB SS41, MKb42H, MKb42W, EMP35, EMP36, MAS38, MG15 and MG30 were suggested.
This thread is to suggest Soviet counterparts of these weapons.
Some of these weapons might fit a Stalingrad campaign better than a Moscow campaign, however.

PTRS: Soviet SS41.
Already in the game files. Semi automatic with a 5-round magazine. Would offer even higher rate of fire than the SS41, but has a lower magazine capacity. Both weapons would be heavier and have more recoil than the PzB38/PTRD.

Fedorov Automat / AVS-36 / AVT-40: Soviet MKb42H/W
Fedorov Automat is already in the game files. All of these are considered “battle rifles”, having automatic fire. All of these could offer high damage at short range with heavy falloff, but more considerable falloff compared to SMGs, or vice versa: same damage, but more falloff. Both of these options would come at the cost of higher recoil.

PPD-34:
Earlier version of the PPD-34/38, with lower rate of fire to make it more controllable.

PPSh-41 / PPS-42 / PPS-43: Soviet EMP35/EMP36/MAS38
Already in the game files. Simple SMGs to expand on the SMG tree just like the EMPs and MAS would do. They are similar enough to the PPD34/38 to not mention the differences.

DP-27: Soviet MG15/MG30
Already in the game files. Having this vs MG15 would probably be more balanced than it facing off against a MG34.

Bren gun: Brittish lend-lease MG15/MG30
Bren gun was used in significant numbers under the lend-lease program. It is also already in the game files.

Lastly, the Bazooka was also under lend lease, so it could also be added in a later Soviet campaign.
For the record, I did use Wikipedia for this list:

PPSH will be op, end of discussion
It was really good irl

It would be an alternative to the PPD with slightly more rate of fire at the cost of slightly more recoil. Also, both a box and drum variant exist for it, so there is also the option of only adding the box mag variant of it, as the drums were phased out with no drums used at all in the later PPSh/PPS models.

Over 5 million of them were produced. They will be added no matter what p_p. Even germans used captured ones because they were just good in close/city combat.

They would probably fit a Stalingrad campaign very well, with the Germans getting MP38/40s and those MKb42s, with soviets getting the Fedorov Automat / AVS-36 / AVT-40 against said MKbs.

Sounds good to me

The DP-27 and the different SMGs are all necessary additions. They were widespread and iconic Soviet weapons, therefore they should definitely be implemented.

All of those domestic guns are already on the training map lmao.

I’ve said it before, but Russia had an ampulla thrower that got retired after Moscow.
The only trouble is it’s hard to find a source on it. Whenever I Google it I just get heros and generals stuff about it being a meme weapon.

Looks like a direct-fire mortar, but it’s known the ampullae are incendiaries.

PPD 1934 could be added. First version PPD (1934) had mechanism that made slower RoF close to 500 rpm to make it more controllable. Also it could be for someone a better version because it could be more accurate at longer distances. 3340 pieces were made from 1935 to 1938.

If you want I could do full translation… :upside_down_face: :joy:

Also for another USSR mg DT-29 could be added. It is mg made for tanks, but because there was lack of mg’s it was used as infantry mg as well.

(I don’t understand why Chauchat instead of this for new prem squad but what do I know) ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Looks a bit like vickers K. Was it also based on Levis gun like DP-27?

idk how it functions but here is video from Gun Jesus he will guide you to gun knowledge.

The drums weren’t really phased out as much as they just stopped being made. Drums for the Shpagin were definitely around in Berlin and probably until they phased out the PPSh.

That was more of a case of “well we don’t like them, but we got a shit load of them so we might as well use them”
