Long story short I have had experience of shooting some of the SMG’s used in Enlisted.
Currently I am seeing some very ‘over-powered, over-performant’ SMGs’
Worst offender in the M3 - in RL, this is a simple weapon to use but the short barrel and high recoil makes it un-manageable with accuracy at anything over 10-15m, and that’s being generous. In game I am consistently getting nailed by M3 gunners at medium and long ranges who are delivering very long bursts of fire that come in at me like laser beams.
In short. Very short barrelled SMGs like the M3 and FNAB-43 (early version Sten - when that arrives) should have poor accuracy and wide round spread especially in long bursts, Thompson and MP40 better accuracy.
Short bursts of 2-4 rounds should experience a smaller spread, anything more than that large spread penalty should be experienced.
SMG’s are not designed to be used in a ‘hosepipe’ fashion. The suggested fix would encourage players (and hopefully AI) to deliver SMG fire in short controlled bursts adding realism and more balance to play.
Wrong, the M3 is really good at high accurate long bursts of fire. The low rate of fire makes the barrel go back to starting position after every single shot. Regular smgs due to higher rate of fire you have to stop shooting because the barrel does not drop back on target.
A lot of the accuracy issue with the Sten was caused by how it was held. For example MkII held by back of stock and magazine receiver is not good for accurate shooting. Holding on the barrel cover not always practical because of heat and the side mounted mag.
Many historical references from Sten users on it’s lack of accuracy.
Oh of course its inaccurate. It’s a crude pipe with a massive slamming bolt and horrible sights. They probably all sucked to shoot except maybe the MK 5 but even that wasnt accurate
its a starter smg that has abominably low rof but makes up for it somewhat with having little recoil and slightly better damage per bullet. that’s just video game balance. how the gun would precisely perform IRL shouldn’t really matter.
Balancing of game is neverending story, speaking about smg , PPD 34 (box) and other PPDs are one of the guns that requires bunch of fixes including wider shot deviation, less amount of ammo that one man can carry with it so player is not encouraged to shoot with it for very long time,or even adding more malfunctions to the gun.
Why russian players plays with it flawlessly and when i will pick the gun from the floor , the gun is damaged and behaves like bugged ? Ofc its not problem only with this gun. Though once you have much ammo you really dont care about how much you shoot on what distances. You dont even have to think about aiming anymore. I really dont enjoy moscow campaign as axis player where nearly everyone has this gun because its in many situations and at various ranges gun that wins ? Even flamethrower is bugged and doesnt work quickly enough in close range combat against it.
Here on forum ive read countless replies about how much are axis armies OP… well ok lets give germans horse cavalry instead of tanks , german soldiers should walk barefoot everywhere while taking attrition damage from the cold snowy ground so russian guy has it more easy to play …Dont get me wrong, playing as allies in moscow is also fun. However that smg needs some rework. Balancing in game is always important and never should the one side surpass the other.
And golden astra lux pistol for soviets during twitch event ? A GOLDEN pistol carried by soviet soldier during stalin era where were poverty and food shortages common thing ? Guy with such valuable thing in hand would have been eaten to the bone as soon as they noticed him with such thing
