I have initiated this topic more than once. Our smoke grenade is completely insufficient to cover me and my AI. Additionally, the smoke cannon only works when it arrives in time, so it should not be affected by other shelling.
Strengthening them is urgently needed by infantry to attack open areas. Currently, only the smoke shells of tanks are effective enough, but waiting for them is unrealistic.

Only usable smoke in the game are of tanks. Shame that nades and smoke arty are never used because they cover too little or share same cd as real explosive arty.
the artillery it’s also non used because someone in company was brilliant to make it share cd with the other attacks, actually it should do only with ammo box, so rockets, normal artillery and bombers go to one slot and ammo and smoke should go to other
It’s one of countless examples of DF/Gajin devs not playing their game or trying to improve it from QOL player experience angle.

yeah the only smoke worth a damn is that from tanks, but its more advantageous for the tank to lay down the hate and there is no reward for smoking friendlies advances.

Lately i had a match where I tried to use them to cover my assault. I don’t think it covered more than 2 ground level windows.
They used to work so much better but got nerfed.
My engineers all carry large grenade pouches and 3 smoke grenades.
When assaulting an objective, I throw all 3 of them in a zigzag pattern, and then run from cloud to cloud to the objective.
That works for me but not very well for the bots and teammates following me.
Indeed. Offensive arty should have the same cooldown as now and support arty should have 2 times faster cooldown and be separated.
I know other games have issues with too much smoke spam making the game laggy, maybe the devs are just a bit overly cautious?
