I don’t know if there are other tanks that have this problem, but the Ho-I does - when I have three crew members and I switch from the commander to the gunner view, my commander gets to the hull MG gunner’s place. As far as I know there is no way to set default crew positions, and it’s really annoying, especially when you have to react quickly to what’s happening in the battle.
So, to make it a suggestion, either enable choosing the crew positions, or stop them from switching places.

I think this happens in others too. Without a full crew - drove me mad on a few tanks until I’d unlocked enough squad slots to fill all the tank seats!

do perk bonuses apply when crew switches their seats?
nope. once they switch seats, perks dont work. most noticeably, the loader. i read somewhere in an update they changed the mechanics of the squad reentering the tank, going to their former stations. didnt checked if it worked as intended, tho.
not to mention the japanese seem to be completely focused on machine gunners, hell you even unlock the MG operator slot BEFORE the loader slot…
