The bots don’t fire often, and often miss when they do. However, a whole squad of MGs or SMGs, firing bursts of 5 rounds, can easily kill a player. On the other hand, this is rare, as most of the time squads aren’t standing out in the open without players firing at them.
Also, apparently, the bushes are SUPPOSE to block AI line-of-sight. Many still seem to not block LOS, and when the bots do finally take aim and fire they are a bit too accurate compared to players in similar terrain (though, if you removed the bushes and grass, players are FAR more dangerous).
I’d rather them make the squad AI more robust. Taking cover as needed, returning fire when the squad starts getting shot, and possibly even warning the player when the squad is getting wiped out.
There are little tricks I’ve learned that make the AI behave better. For instance, setting them up near sandbags and such on the map, as well as static objects that look like they are SUPPOSED to be used for cover, the AI will crouch in cover and stand to shoot a lot faster. Most apparent on Pacific with the low embankment walls outside the cave.
Also they seem to not get in each other / my way as much when i consistently position them around me using X. Unless they are ordered to hold, every small movement by the player makes the AI “squirm”
