Stop deserting!

First off I know im gonna get some shit for this post but im ok with that…

Im on this forum everyday and have recently been seeing people complaining about the desertion penialty EASY SOLUTION HOW BOUT PEOPLE STOP DESERTING the match because you are loosing or not getting the amount of kills you want it seems (in my opion weak) if your worried about your KDR or winning percentage than how can you say those are your true stats if you only play if your having a good game or are gonna win dont push the objective then find a place to snipe or flank from another position there are other methods to not effect your KDR. And win percentage who cares you could win 1000 games but have poor KDR or visa versa just start the match and play that easy.

The Forumites aren’t going to like this suggestion, but you’re right. Deserter penalties wouldn’t be a thing if people quitting as soon as they have to fight an actual human wasn’t so rampant. I’ve seen so many teams just fold as soon as the first point is captured because 5-7 players quit, which just replaces them with bots.

The truth is that this game isn’t that difficult to play and be semi-decent at, but people just want to be spoon fed (hence all the suggestions begging for participation trophy rewards).

Sure just turn enlisted into a single player game
Because I don’t want to play a game when
The team is farming kills
The team refuses to defend the point so each is lost in a minute to three
Players are hogging the tank without getting kills at the back of the map
Players are refusing to build rally points
Players advance an inch from the spawn point and begin shooting across the entire map to fet no kills
Players are refusing to spawn waiting for a tank or plane
Min maxers who think they are doing you a favor by carolling you’re bots to use exclusively as extra lives
Trolls that build rallies far from the objective or so close and In The open you are instant killed after spawning

Most people quit due to map choice but I also know we are not allowed to ask for that.

This is just cope. A significant portion of players desert because they get folded in 2-3 lives regardless if it’s a stack or just a half-decent solo player.

I’m sure the people with 15-30 kills and 3-8 deaths are totally deserting because the map/mode.

If the Dev’s would actually take the time to address the “reason’s” people desert instead of just trying to appease those penalize, penalize, penalize no matter what people, we might be able to cut down on desertions, however, as I have said many times… Short of suspending or banning players who desert, it will" never be stopped" completely, and suspending and banning would drastically cut into player numbers, so those are non starters, I think I can safely predict that.

So again, I give my keys to “cutting down” on desertions.

  1. End the ranking system. Some players desert to protect a loss of rank
  2. End the win/loss %. Again, some desert to avoid a drop in their %.
  3. Add a “play solo only” box next to the play any faction box. Too many ass kicking’s are due to solo players getting waxed by organized groups, so, give those who only want to play other solo players the opportunity. I think this would greatly improve the match making, and those who don’t care, just ignore the box and play as usual. Me, personally as a solo only player
    would always check the box.
  4. Give ZERO, I repeat, ZERO experience, silver, or research points to anyone who deserts, whether they desert in the first 30 seconds or 30 seconds from the end of the match. You quit, you get dick, nothing, nada. Games I have deserted, I still get to cash in my research points into silver. Eliminate that.

Or, we can just continue to ignore the reasons people desert and two years from now, we will still be at the same point complaining about the amount of desertions in the game and how we can penalize more. :rofl: So again, I offer up my meme that IMOP sums this all up.

I am NOT ANTI PENALTY, I am ANTI doing shit that is obviously NOT going to work, and PRO fixing the reasons WHY people quit in the first place. People ignore that and for some reason expect a slap on the wrist penalty is going to stop desertions. :no_good_man:

And its not that hard to see that with people leaving with zero points and zero kills and deaths.

Ask the devs to stop forcing me to time travel with Tiger 2 to Stalingrad or with IS-2 to Rzhev and I will not have have to desert anymore.

Until then, I will keep leaving 100% of such fantasy land matches.

I just spent around 10 minutes leaving various games to get a good 30 minute match and i’d repeat that cycle every time.

I play for enjoyment and not silver so keep this penalty all you want.

That doesn’t matter. I don’t care to be semi decent in a map, match or scenario i don’t enjoy.

I’ve left games because we capped the first 2-3 so quick and i can tell it’s just going to be a stomp… which admittedly could be because of what you mentioned but it’s just what happens.

I think not focusing on other people’s personal decisions that in the long run don’t affect you would be a much better escape considering if i stayed in the matches i disliked i would abandon the thought of being a good player (and have)

It’s selfish and unhealthy for the game… but in a game where the majority of your time is spent killing bots i think it’s fair to cherry pick that bot farm until you are in an environment you will enjoy.

Personally I dont care if people stay or leave im just tired of everyone whining about the desertion penalty if you stay cool but if you leave( regardless of reason) then you know your getting the penalty so embrace it or plan your gameplay around it.

Hey guys, this may be crazy to you but why if Darkflow correctly balances the game in order to avoid frustration in the players which then leads them to quit? I mean like what if we add an objective lock that allows defenders a bit of time to at least get in the next objective before the enemy swarms paratroopers, guerrillas apcs on the next objective and also the next one? (Because yes, I have seen it happen, 3 objectives captured before the defending team could even get on it, of course not even saying that the defending team tried to build rallies, no no just straight up they were still moving back from the first objective, as attackers and as defender as well) And then once these issues that do contribute a lot when taking into account why players quit then we think about how to piss off the players more?

What if we actually give control to players to choose what they want to play instead of forcing them to play a bunch of shitty maps and game modes that no one likes?

If all of the things mentioned above are actually fixed I would not mind at all if I get a 50% negative xp card for 2 matches, because I can hope that at least I will be getting to play what I wish to play, so I wont have to quit matches that I just don’t want to play to begin with?
