Starter weapons in each campaign should be unlocked by default for new players after the Update

Currently we have starter weapons unlocked by default (level 0) in every campaign.

After the Update these weapons should be unlocked and available for use by new players.
We haven’t seen the tech trees yet but I really hope this will be the case.

Let’s say a new player starts the Germany tech tree, at “reserve” BR they will get something like K98 and MP-28. If the “location based on gear” “soft rule” is to be trusted, such player will be mostly placed to Moscow/Tunisia maps.
As such, they will see Normandy/Berlin maps much less frequently, and said Normandy/Berlin maps will see a smaller pool of potential players.

However, if we unlock the current starter weapons frome each campaign for such new player by default, they will be able to equip them and have an equal chance of being placed to any map/campaign, e.g.:

Moscow, Tunisia, Stalingrad reserve: K98 + MP-28;
Normandy reserve: K98 + MP-34(o);
Berlin reserve: VG-2 + MP-3008.

(MP-28, MP-34(o) and MP-3008 can be almost idential state wise, for all I personally care, I just don’t want to see MP-3008 in Stalingrad)

(I also thought about having starter “reserve” tanks unlocked for each campaign but maybe having Berlin’s 75mm Pz IV J unlocked instantly is unbalanced if it’s used in other campaigns, unless it will be “soft” locked to Normandy and Berlin, which it should)

Map placement is not going to be totally static, and it’s based on BR. So Volkssturm weapons are more likely to show up in Tunisia than Berlin.

1st) Map placement is a soft rule for enforce high-end BR equipment in normandy and berlin and try to mimic the war progression, the rest of the equipment can play on all map a faction is allowed to play

2nd) new player who join the game after the merge dont need actual campaign starter equipment unlocked because most of this equipment is already low-end BR unlockable in a couple of hour and give them pz4j and t34-85 for make them food for veteran in high-end BR is the opposite to what the BR want do

(Japan is another story)

That’s exactly what I propose to avoid.

Make MP-28 equal on stats to MP-3008 (like the ‘folder’ unlocks in WT: Pz II A, B, C).
But make MP-3008 appear only in Berlin.

I really doubt this.

You’ll probably have to go through all of WT tree until T-34/85 like T-60, T-26, BT-7, T-28, T-28E, T-50, T-34/76, T-34/76 (1941), T-34/76 (STZ), KV-1, and only then T-34/85.

Without any sort of default unlocks like VG-2, Kriegsmodel, MP-3008, etc. Berlin is going to look so weird with Pz II vs BT-7 and Madsen vs ZB-26.

Forget about it, they’ll do it their own way anyway

I’ve heard that the new system will be more sophisticated than we thought: Volkssturms weapon are specially coded and will most likely be seen against other low BR weapons/players in Berlin.

Could be wrong or things might before release though.

Let’s see.

O hope all low br equipment will be playable in every campaign.
I want to see pz 3 vs t 50 duels in berlin

Ew what a perversion

take read about the MP3008 is a Volkssturm weapon, not regular troops. Stop manipulating historical data.
And because it’s a game, the ignorant will say. A game or movie should stick to historical facts.
Then there are such flowers that a guy at my work says that the M8 greyhound is a vehicle from the First World War because in WT it is on BR 1.0. The dude thinks the BR 1.0s are WW1 machines.

Just give this weapon 0 recoil and 0 dispersion so ti could be just another high BR and be usable on Berlin map (as every other late war stuff), problem solved.
There’s literally no reason why late war stuff should be facing early war low br to completely cripple immersion for newcomers.

but there will no longer be separate campaigns like now. From the new version, when the development trees enter, the weapon will determine the minimum level of the campaign. thus you will enter the 1939 campaign with a 1941 campaign, but you will not enter the 1942 campaign with a 1945 weapon.

BR will determine the map, not a year of development.

The developers have stated that they want to stick to historical facts.

Not in this case, read first ten replies to new meta topic. Some helper said mp3008 will face early war stuff cuz of BR.

Nowhere did they say it would. They wrote that there may be a situation where there will be a deviation, but they are investigating whether it suits the players.
Most CBTs don’t like that, and we invested because we liked the shape the game was taking.
Now we have a flood of ignorant people who claim that for him the mp3008 does not fit into Berlin 1945, but these are the facts that the Germans were selling crap.
If WT would stick to full historical correctness, the German equipment would be the biggest junk in the game.

I understand that you want balance. But balance kills all the need to play tactically.
I personally don’t like bending the facts for someone’s convenience.

I really do want asymetrical balance, I am not of those “everything should be perfectly balanced so the only difference are textures” guys.

I just don’t want to see late war smg fighting in early war matches, that’s all. If this wouldn’t be case, I am happy.

But the mp3008 is a design from the end of the war.

Perfect balance. It’s interesting how they will balance the AK47 and all AK derivatives.

IMO, crippled immersion is this:

Clunky piece of metal should be always clunky piece of metal

It would be still shtt compared to stgs and fgs II, damage drop off/lame damage/hilarious sights. But I guess you just wanted to oppose me and bully newcomers with late war smg, enjoy.
