Stalingrad - The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly

[Good]
It gives premium players a lot of incentives to purchase that would roughly be $200+ USD of value, not excluding the squads and weapons behind the pay wall.

[Bad]
These said squads and weapons are mostly the only unique factors for this campaign. Locking them away benefits no one.

[Ugly]
Premium players will most likely end up in ghost town lobbies against themselves and bots after a month of release and people will come here to any Enlisted hub and complain about the player base.

Look - this monetization strategy is not inherently flawed. It’s the principle of having this strategy on a campaign that is too similar to two of the core four F2P campaigns. If this system was for the Pacific campaign, people might be more inclined to give it more leeway since the Axis side would be completely unique - Stalingrad is two sides that are already done the best they could possibly do.

I propose that Stalingrad’s founder’s pack, because that is what it is - don’t argue against this point - should have a clause added that states that “the campaign levels that are unique to them are on a time gate system”. This can be a 30 to 60 day timer, or a Battle Pass timer for content in Stalingrad.

People who purchased and funded into Stalingrad would have all the levels whilst free to play can still play and unlock everything, but only when the next Battle Pass happens. This means all 26 levels for Stalingrad would be free to play when Battle Pass 6 happens; and if there is more content when BP6 happens, the same time gate system would kick in that limits to newer unlocks for free to play users.

It is not the best remedy to a situation, but it would help ease the flames of tension between the sides. In fact, why are we complaining against ourselves about F2P vs Premium?

I am a premium player and that is because I deem the value of this game as a dollar an hour of enjoyment. I have 2000 hours plus in Enlisted, yet I have spent $500 throughout its inception.

I need the free to play community to thrive or else the game will fall flat on its face with AI playing against itself as their deep learning parents learn how to drop shot better - and the premium community is there to keep the game running so both sides can enjoy the project.

I should not have to state the obvious, but the developers did state that four campaigns would be free to play forever whilst the next ones one be a different strategy. All I am proposing as a recap is that for this strategy to be a Time Gated system instead of a complete Pay Wall system.

Comrade Zaitsev was a f2p in Stalingrad, he use simple rifle, what you do to this poor rifle with 30 round of magazine? Five round not enough? If ammo is problem you simply wait until 2 or more target is line up infront of each other and kill 2/3/4 with one bullet. Maybe also need espresso machine and double mocha latte machine attachment for it. Rifle is fine!

Reznov: Complaining will not help… just enjoy the new campaign. In Stalingrad Dmitri and i fought against full access player with 9 man mkb42(H) engineers and trophy ppsh. DO you hear him complaining ?

I can confidently say that this will be one of the most playable campaigns in the game. And I would even predict that statistically some free players will have no problem paying the € 30 they spend on pizza and cola to play in a campaign where you will experience the “fun factor” right away. And not just forget all those freaks role-players (like myself) with the full customization option ahead.

we use it as an example, but have we ever seen someone spam 9 soldiers with a fg42 or similar? I never, I have seen people spam assaulter or snipers (moscow) or mg gunners but never 9 embers with an automatic weapon

Exactly. There was an uproar of people whinning and crying without end against auto rifles for troopers but… How many guys have you seen doing that? In all my time, I’ve met…

One.

And I went ppsh41 on his ass to punish him and won. Select fire rifles are great. Do they make players good? No. Assaulters squad will still work great with having alot of ammunition, same as lmg guys.

People ONLY spamming SF rifles are such a rarity I don’t even see the need for a restriction on them to be honest. People doing that just look… Weak.

I’m a bit sad about mkb42h however, as I wanted my assaulters to have them, with a lot of ammunition, as shock guys.

this is true, a player with a non-mixed squad that is unable to fill multiple roles outside blind zerg rush may also have 9 men with stg44 but the first skilled player with BA he finds eliminates him or kills almost all the soldiers he has.

Then skilled player with 5 stg engineers comes and spanks that poor BA guy. He dont need 9 guys cause he knows most of those just die cause poor pathfinding when he flanks with 1 guy or to some random arty/mortar/plane bomb…

and who said the guy with stg is “skilled”? I didn’t say it, a skilled player doesn’t need 9 embers with stg44

Oh yeah… cause there is the myth of people just spamming sf trooper rifles here…

It’s like 10 kebabs form me, not just some pizza and coke.
Not erveryone lives in one cuntry, get out of your ass sometimes.
I could get wasted for whole week with 30€.

And i can confidentyl say, this will be one of the least plaeyed campaigns in game, hf killing bots 24/7

  1. I pretty appreciate dev to switch to pay to play mode.
  2. But 30USD is not a small amount of money of a DLC, so it has to be worth it to continue attract players to pay future ones.
  3. I dont see any problems of this mode. See how Steam platform works out. And how niche Gaijin platform is.
  4. But due to still many players are from Gaijin platform, and not used to this mode. Many players may not used to it. (But come on, the most successful PC game platform works with no problem.)
  5. However, Stalingrad F2P is still much much better than those paid games’ demo mode. So, even for F2P players, you still can play and grind a lot.
  6. (To those F2P players) If you love this game so much, and willing to see higher level’s equipment are (to unlock and get them). Spending 30USD for 20~100h of gameplay isnt normal? Or is your time so cheap that 50~200h of time dont worth 30USD? Dev dosent ask for overpriced item/unlocks here.

  1. dont exactly see how its better as in most demos everyone starts at same level / gets same equipment.
Which obviously aint the case here.
Aka theres no different lobbys for f2p / p2p players.

  2. Fairly few has said the 30e price is too much, infact so far it gives the most content for the money compared to previously released prem squads etc. But to give some comparison theres fair amount of AAA grade games available for 30e.
Its the fact that gap between p2p / f2p players has been rather fair, sure you get advantages if you have memb / some premsquads but in stalingrad locking entire endgame out of f2p players makes the gap between p2p / f2p rather massive.

Mayby cause this campaing was not even designed to be free. So even getting anykind of progression is enough.

Then just lock it entirely to P2P.
