Stalingrad spit balling

I know the devs are eventually adding Stalingrad eventually either as a campaign of its own or combined with Moscow. Wanted to bounce these ideas I have off the community and see what yall think…

First of all, for added variety to the Axis, include at least ONE OR SEVERAL squads from Romania, Hungary, Italy or Croatia. It is astounding to me how in many games that include Stalingrad you are just straight up a regular old Wehrmacht soldier even though IRL over half of the axis man power in Stalingrad were of different nationalities. I’m not creative enough, but I’m sure between all of those nations they could come up with interesting content for premium squads , weapons, etc.
Soviets would not have this advantage of variety, but this has been a bigger problem for the Axis so far . some additional bolt actions, LMG’s and uniforms I am sure would be welcome by the community. I am too lazy right now to include pictures but there are massive amounts of resources for Romanian and Hungarian equipment/uniforms used on the Eastern Front

Aside from squad variety, MAPS. I believe to make it feel different enough, perhaps the devs could introduce night maps? Lighting could be provided by building fires and flood lights, etc.
ALSO, Berlin has that one section that is like a basement parking garage which provides some good chaos. Stalingrad campaign can take underground fighting even farther but add sewer sections, tunnels that help you cross open sight lines, and command bunkers. Also PAVLOV’S HOUSE .

In my opinion, if the devs included these for Moscow, it would be a unique take on the Stalingrad campaign compared to other games and it would still feel different enough from Berlin as well! Anyone else have ideas to make an intriguing Stalingrad campaign?

Perhaps balance the night time outdoor sections with indoor parts with lighting ?

Battlefield 1 had night maps for their France DLC and I thought it worked pretty well. Subjective of course

Let’s do it ! The devs still have plenty of potential to add Soviet toys as well which can make Stalingrad very interesting

eh, not too sure about that but maybe night battles become a possibility if we go down into cold war conflicts because we’ll have night vision by then

Stalingrad won the vote. But we still have Berlin now, although I don’t mind. The Russian version of the site and the English are slightly different, so I’m too lazy to switch to English and check if this information is available.

That’s good thank you for sharing! Not that I have such a big ego that I think they will take my ideas seriously… I just hope they make it feel different enough from Berlin and it seems obvious that they should include Romanian and Hungarian squads. @Keofox what do you think bro

Stalingrad can be very diverse.
From the ruins of the city and factories to villages and fields.

Agreed! Also, would it be an option to include horses for riding in Stalingrad? I am not trying to make them into the next tank, but just a fun gimmick like the “battle bus” in Tunisia  Also, both sides used millions of horses if im not mistaken?

Yea,Moscow too need horses,we have soviet checker(idk how it at eng, shashka)and germany saber.

yes good point. The Horses should be for whole Eastern front really. Perhaps do premium rider squad but with horses(like Tunisia motorcycle)? And including an engineer in the squad would also make sense as the horses were for logistical support as well?

Horses were often used for logistics (there were few vehicles on both sides to transport goods), and cavalry initially fought, but later it was not used in combat.

Stalingrad was solely taken by Germany´s 6th Army, flanks outside Stalingrad along the Don River were held by Italy, Hungary, Romania. No Croatia at all. Even as the 4th Army under General Hoth (Germany) attacked from the south to lift the Pocket, no “Axis allies” involved. They only were staying at the Don River because Germany did not trust them, which showed later on.

In case of lack of Historical & Geographic understanding

I see what you mean and don’t doubt your right. Perhaps a map modeled after a location from the flanks or outer Stalingrad area? For me, it would be interesting to have squads from Romania and Hungary enter the fray. It would spice up the axis tech and troops which this game will prob need going forward even with the recent intro of Italians.
Also, in your opinion, what do you think would make a good Stalingrad map? Specific features, gimmicks or mechanics? curious

Really?

I would understand if you had to go library these days to check it out. But you have all the knowledge needed at your disposal, just google it.

You can’t look at the battle of Stalingrad as fighting in the city only.

Yeah, Stalingrad also contains many unique sites/buildings that should be interesting to play at. While current Moscow’s map is pretty plain. Also the Berlin’s Reichstag interior is still not opened yet.
Also, it’s time to introduce some other interesting element of mission.
Also I think by the time of Stalingrad or Pacific, it’s the time to introduce ship battles. Or some ship squads.

I really hope the Pacific is next. Unlocking German weapons for a 5th time is something I just wont do. Atleast US/British weapons are vastly different from Russian ones so there is variety in the campaigns

If the axis forces for Stalingrad included Hungary, Romania , Italy and Croatia, would that be enough difference in guns and gear? I’m not claiming to be an expert but I’m guessing there would be some additional unique weapons and squads . Anyone feel free to chime in !

With that being said, Pacific is also one I look forward to

I would think it would end up like Tunisia with all the higher level stuff being German again. Lower lever would be unique but thats probably it
