That isn’t true, if Nazis wanted to, they could have had political officers in the army to ensure loyalty, much like the Soviets had commissars in the red army.
Commissars however know nothing about war so they made the worst decision possible.
Lets also note that the Wehrmacht in 1939 was still run by officers of the old nobility and looked down on the SS which had few officers of noble decedents.
The SS helped in pushing through necessary reforms without the party taking full control of the Heer or purging any opposition.
In the hypothetical scenario of a Nazi victory, Im sure that the Waffen-SS would have been the Nazi party’s private army which would fight in foreign wars for party interest while the Heer would have stayed as Germany’s army, only fighting in wars when Germany is directly involved.
Depending if you still count a ministry as a privat employer or not.
They were independent from the wehrmacht as the party was head of the SS and not some prussian general.
So idk if that counts as pmc or just a seperate branche of military.
You can think as the SS like a political police with a branch in the military Waffen SS, SS in first place born only for solidify the power of the NSDAP in the germany
I don’t care much to talk about war crimes on video game forums but this isn’t close to true. Waffen-SS were extensively ruthless in their killings, without prejudice, especially in the East. This extends to the Heer too. You could argue about individual soldiers but that’s just semantics at that point.
Both sides were up to some funny business during the war, primarily the East and Pacific.
