I made a ranking of squads - from worst to best.
Maybe someone will find this useful
I love that every time you show a BA rifle gameplay, enemy soldiers rapidly change directions or instantly stop.
Clasic
not agree with riders are the worst, with an engie and a snipper or at guy they can make rally far fast and blow up from behind tanks or hide for bother enemies
I must disagree with riflemen being last, after rider.
Ppl overlook them, but they’re in truth the best at capping points.
Plus, the squad is quite versatile, being able to bring 3 or 4 different specialists in.
It’s also the most powerful squad for those with less scruples, who think bringing 9 AVT40 or fg42II or m2 is a good idea
Ppl disliking them often just struggle a bit with bolt actions and semi autos.
bro really ranked rider and rifleman as bad squads?
he clearly hasen’t played normandy with 9 men fgs or 9 men avts / m2s.
not to mention, VG 2s. SMLE rifles and other 10 cratridges up to 6 rifles.
more like, squads ranked from worst to best based on OP’s opinions rather than objectively.
I’m really, really really really quite eager to see VG 1-5 being swapped as a riflemen weapon.
One of the thing I’m most hyped about with future updates.
yeah, can’t wait for that too.
i’m stacking up some of these guns for real “damage” even though they aren’t really effective but.
problem is, those are expensive as hell
Rider - waste of a slot if a map contains empty jeeps or trucks
Rifleman - two more soldiers than flametrooper / assaulter / machine gunner squad, but only 3 soldiers (engineer / radio-operator / assaulter) other than rifleman.
Two more FGs-42 / AVTs / granade-launchers are not worth it.
rider: although they only have two units, three paying for the premium version are a versatile unit to mount a rally in a hurry behind enemy lines, if you go with AT it is a specialist in destroying tanks from behind, if you go with sniper, your objective is to hit, kill and flee quickly, if you go with a submachine gun, it can be a strange but useful support, once again the riflemen are the underestimated of the group, they are fierce and dangerous cannon fodder, imagine finding 9 enraged Germans with FG42 or 9 Americans with M2 Carbine ready to shoot whatever comes their way
Assaulter (Because SMG go brrrr)
Flamethrower (Because fire is annoying as shit)
Radio Operator (Because you can clear cap with it or prevent enemies from getting back on cap)
MG (Because HMG nest spam goes crazy against teams that don’t know how to not walk into the sight of HMG over and over)
Mortar (Basically a worse Radio Squad)
Medic (Because SMG go brrr but no rally so sad)
Rifleman (Idk, you get 9 guys)
Engineer (Any squad can have engi so who cares)
AT (Anyone can have det pack so who cares)
Sniper (Fun but usually not that useful)
and dont forget the grenade launchers. 9 soldiers with noob tubes are no joke
Okay my turn:
Assaulter
They get weapons that are the best when it comes down to squad wiping, which ultimately is the goal of the game.
Flamers
They have equal squad wipe potential and even exceed at clearing points, yet they are a bit more situational and don’t always shine on every map
Troopers
High end tier troopers get select fire weapons which usually trade their squad wipe potential for one hit kill power (with the exception of M2), yet they also get increased squad size compared to Assaulters, so they are absolutely worh it.
AT Squads
Having 3 dudes with a Panzerschreck is amazing, killing tanks at 100m + distance with a bit of practice is often a crucial factor for the game, and since they can also use select fire weapons they don’t lack in regular infantry power.
Pioneers
AT guns and such are rather situational but can be useful, however rank I Pioneers get the faster “prone movement perk” by default - which stacks with the regular faster prone movement speed perk, this results in a full squad of FG42 that move around corners faster than anyone else. Peakers advantage is real and can almost break the game in the right hands.
rest: MGs, Radio, Snipers and mortar squads are in my eyes in no way competitive and need major changes to be worth the time.
In the end…
All of this is relative and ultimately depends on 3 things:
1- The player’s opinion and favoured play style.
2- The maps, campaign. Where in Berlin, assaulters are kings, in Pacific, or Tunisia or Stalingrad… other classes catch up easily.
3- what do you equip your soldiers with? In Normandy, many will prefer the m2 equipped rifleman over the tommy assaulter. In Pacific, a veteran with a bolt action will never let an assaulter get close. In Berlin however, it’s the opposite, assaulters will lay waste to everything.
It varies too much.
Troopers are very underrated class, they provide distraction, it’s easier to push with entire 9 man squad, yet players seems to not realize that, as they run most likely as small squad as possible, to the point it became a common tactic, which in my opinion is literally destroying the game, everytime i lose the battle which seemd to be a ghost town all i can see in the spectator mode is players run 2-4 man squads.
Yes:
Not only that, but in some campaigns their weaponry is as potent as assaulters, namely with m2, fg42II, avt40 or simply grenade launchers.
I often break capping stalemates using my riflemen squads. 9 pairs of boots, is far from weak, especially if those are well equipped for the campaign and map they’re in.
Riflemen squad is an absolute gem.
Spawning one of these in just after an assaulter or flamer has cleared the point just caps soooo fast.
Also it makes it harder for drum smgs to deal with 9 chunky boys spread out that can 1 shot you at anyrange, and specd for fast rez/heal. 9 rifles can potentially double with res
Sometimes i run 3 rifle squads lol
Wave after wave of men!!
Right?
ppl think they’re bad because they don’t excel in a particular field, but in truth it’s their all rounder versatility that is great. They’re good at long range provided you use bolties. they’re good at med range if you use semis. they’re also good up close with select fire rifles. And they’re 9. assaulters are the king at close range but cannot engage at long range, until they get their hands on assault rifles (assault rifles beat everything).
I remember I maxed up my axis in Berlin, back when they were door mats for Soviet pleasure (yeah I was mazochist). It was hard til I got enough ppsh/avt spam in the face and brought an emergency 9 fg42II riflemen squad to counter said spam…
Its why I like riflemen, capable at any range, has a chance in any situation. At any range only need 1 shot. and since bayonets came in, you really dont want to get stuck in close quarters with them either. Weave attacking (shoot, bayonet, shoot, bayonet) is hilarious.
honestly the only thing that really stops the swarm is HE spam (and empacements). Without tanks theres just an insane amount of bodies. Pacific was often a good showcase of this, Allies dont use armor cos AT rifles, so not much HE spam. Japanese have alot of the event rifles squads running around. you really feel outnumbered.
as if it these event squads are gonna help against a squad of some chinese or other nationality asshole running full on M2 rifleman squads and M2 specialist squads maybe spiced up with not as egregious tommy guns or painful but relatively short ranged flamethrowers (that can still be equipped with the fucking M2s)
(yes i do have a trauma over encountering m2s back to back too often to the point that i am having a stroke over hearing its firing sound)
I leveled up pacific when allies were at their low point. There was no one around to have m2s and flamers. And even then pacific maps generally have long sight lines better for longer range weapons.
I take garand over m2
