Squad Preset Customization Suggestion

Now that we have confirmation that a squad preset system is confirmed, we can look forward to creating different presets for our factions to play at different BRs. The point of this post, is to suggest how we can expand and and improve this concept a little beyond what we will likely get.

The progression update is taking a lot of inspiration from Warthunder, just look at the new tech tree system as an example. This means we will also likely get the same imported preset system that Warthunder has.

While there isn’t anything necessarily wrong with this preset system, I think there is some room to add more customization. One game that has a similar preset system we can look to for inspiration is Steel Division 2, which is shown below.

Steel Division 2’s presets are called “battlegroups”, and while they are in an entirely different genre of game, they still represent a preset of what units the player is bringing in for a certain faction. One thing I really like about the battlegroup mechanic is that you can give each battlegroup a custom symbol. Allowing the player to quickly discern the battlegroups from each other. I think this feature should be included and combined with the Warthunder style preset symbol we are likely going to get.

(please ignore that soviet presets are using german equipment)

My ideal system would look something like this, with each preset distinguishable by a symbol. Hopefully each preset will allow soldiers to have different cosmetic options. With presets that play and look different, allowing different preset symbols would be an excellent organizational tool and give the player more customization choice, making each preset a little more special. Additionally it would be nice to be able to see the custom symbol somewhere on the screen while that preset is being used.

This mechanic could also appeal to people asking for more historical accuracy. They could recreate historical divisions with their historically accurate weaponry and symbol for the preset (some symbols obviously are not appropriate).

i hope that’s what going to happen rather than get pre selected and already decided presets from devs

otherwise. what’s the point of having an entire feature of customization ( where people spended money on it ) entirely eradicated ?

also, there are more than 200 cosmetics. are they just gonna make 70% pointless and unused ?

i really hope not.

I would be shocked if we got already decided presets from the devs. I am just saying I would like to be able to apply a symbol to my costum presets to easily distinguish them, and there could be some historically accurate presets with historically accurate symbols (where appropriate) to choose from if you want to.

Is that truly how many cosmetics are not being used currently?

should have specified more. some of them are, but out of all of the cosmetics that exist, only 30% of what there is in enlisted are present in the current customization selection ( note, not even in one place. because for example, stalingrad does not have the same customization as berlin ) meaning that roughly 70% are either locked somewhere, not included or straight up missing.

of the 70%,

  • 20% are either used in premium content ( for example, normal pieces that shouldn’t be locked behind premium for whatever reason
few Example

Erma Mp44 helmet

Iconic wehermacht Trenchcoat from Moscow GW41M

Volksgrenadier Jacket only available to the mg45

Paratrooper Helmets

( fine being premium, less fine that the 4 non premium squads have none )

Winter medical torso:

berlin MP40/1 squad

  • 30% it’s present in some campaigns and squads, but not selectable within the present customization.
Other Examples

Trenchcoats

Medic Equipment as a whole lacking

ability to use vulk other torso rather than rng

Normandy Gray Assaulter Squad

winter equipment ( only available in SG ):

hats:

no gray pants

  • and the 20% are inside the editor but not used in the game.
Others examples

Luftwaffe / Paratroopers items:

( no, the one above is not from the premium squads. it’s similar, but slighlty less green. you can see the differences in the all clothing list that i made in the forum.)

others

and this is just germany.

the rest, you can find them here:

Yeah. I mean we already can get SS skins for Moscow and SG so I dont know the point of the proposed skin system by the devs.
If its all about the German Afrikakorps, just make those units locked to Tunisia like the Italians.

because we could then at least select our own uniforms and make them suit our liking.

honestly, that’s all what i care and often waste money on it.

why in the hell i can’t dress my battle barbies with gray uniforms nor trench coats of my liking?

this is outrageous.

even worse, the lack of actual selection for pouches :unamused:

enjoy your sun burnes sweety.

i’d rather be at the beaches with the boys :sunglasses:
