Sprint order, Once again, because it,s important feature to this game

I don,t like to be a asshole and ask this again, but since it,s a VERY VERY VERY important and easy coded order i entering the debate once again.

i posted about it some time before, the ideia once again is, double tap X order to make you soldiers run straigh to the point whitout caring about anything else. not shooting or taking cover.

the order will be yellow instead of green. for matters of organization making you know the order you gave.

now, let,s check all we can do whit this simple but very usefull tool.

1 if you run to fast and the bots stay behind you, doble tap X botton to they run in your position in order to regroup.

2 if the game started and you what to save some time to move faster you can to the objetive dooble tap X once again, you can also do it if you objetive has be conquered and you what to save time and move to the next position.

3 since they don,t shoot and only run, it,s interesting to move you snipers quick you can and flank the enemy position.

4 Retreat if you objetive has fallen and you need to move to the last position quick. again dooble tap X botton.

we must remenber that moving simple taping X will make soldier take cover, return fire, keep the tactcial spacing and everthing must be donne passive. but using sprint order is,t something of passive behavior,

of course soldiers will be likely to thow their lives away if you double tap X button in the wrong direction and wrong situation. so it,s not a improved move order, it is a diferent move order that have a very diferent effect in the behavior of the soldiers.

remenber in the future paths that will give us the so dreamed tactical features, this simple order will be necessary for many tactical situations. so it,s very basic.

I think that is a great idea, almost always your AI’s are far behind you and when switching to a different soldier that you need such as AT gunner etc. You have to re run the distance to catch up to be in the position you need to be in, and sometimes its too late. This idea would definitely help will the AI’s being too far behind you.

So I agree and disagree on a few notes.

AI can definitely be clunky at times and I will always appreciate more specific order types, however, ever since the most recent AI update, there are workarounds to get the AI following you a bit better.

This is my current command rotation to do so:

Formation: Close > Behavior: Passive > Movement order: Squad (In front of me every few seconds)

With this command rotation I generally have all of my AI following me pretty close, even when under moderate fire. Then once I am in position I switch to Individual Soldier movement so I can have them spaced where I want them.

I honestly recommend changing Squad Management controls to make it more comfortable to manage as well.

This I disagree with totally and where I have my sympathies for the Devs. In my 4 years of studying game development, my AI programming class was the ONLY class that had me on my ass working on AI much simpler than what is in game, and where I would have failed without tutoring help.

There is only pain, but I still appreciate the little boost that AI gets here and there.
