Special awards and medals for soldiers (LONG TEXT)

One day I got my first gold order soldier and only noticed the medal in the UI and five stars, nothing more. I still think that this is not enough and they should wear their medal: Knights Cross around the neck, Medal of Honor for US, Hero of the USSR for soviets (and other nations too ofc!) for the gold order soldiers of the specific country. It is just a cosmetic idea but I think the gold soldiers should be recognizable on the battlefield.

On top of that every single soldier should earn seperate medals and awards - they should be visual on his uniform. To be honest every player has his favorite soldiers in each squad and I think it would be a great sight when they earn medals.

Some medals/badges/awards could be:

Germany:

  • Knights Cross
  • Iron Cross
  • Infantry Assault Badge
  • General Assault Badge
  • Close Combat Gasp
  • Parachutist Badge
  • Panzer Badge
  • Tank Destruction Badge
  • Snipers Badge
  • Wound Badge
  • Several arm shields:
    “Crimea Shield”
    “Demyansk Shield”
    “Kuban Shield”
(awards may have more variants, like bronze/silver/gold or first/second/third class)

USSR:

  • Marshal’s Star
  • Several orders
    “of glory”
    “of Lenin”
    “of Suvorov”
    “of Alexander Nevsky”
    “of the patriotic war”
  • Several medals:
    “for courage”
    “for battle merit”
    “for the defense of Leningrad”
    “for the defense of Odessa”
    “for the defense of Stalingrad”
    “for the defense of Moskow”
    “for the capture of Berlin”
    (awards may have more variants/ranks)

US:

  • Distinguished Service Cross
  • Several service ribbons
  • Several medals:
    “Legion of Merit”
    “Silver Star”
    “Bronze Star”
    “Distinguished Flying Cross”
    “Air Medal”
    “Purple Heart”
    (awards may have more variants/ranks)

Of course Italy, GB and Japan also has their respective medals/awards but I am too tired to pick them out. Make yourself a wish list :slightly_smiling_face:

For every award/medal the single soldier has to archive kills, destroyed planes/tanks/structures or build 500 rally points (as an example, many other options are given). The higher the medal/award, the harder the task - for example: 250x “Best Soldier” award gives the respective soldier the “Iron Cross 2nd Class” or “Bronze Star”.
On top of that, the soldier can be equiped with the medal/award in the cosmetic section so everybody can see it. You have a favorite sniper? When he archived his 2000th kill, he get the “Snipers Badge” which he proudly will wear on his chest (or the equivalent US/USSR/GB/Japan/Italy medal/badge).

The total amount of medals/awards a single soldier can equip is limited. Each soldier class has their own archiveble awards → a sniper cant get the “Panzer Badge” or “Air Medal”.

Please DF, make our favorite soldiers happy and give 'em boys the medals they deserved!

I hope you like the idea. Open for discussions! :beers:

(As I said: The total amount of medals a soldier can equip SHOULD be limited)

No.

Yes. NK generals are best generals as clearly seen by all their medals

Surplus sugesting a ranked system from Recruit → Private → Sgt. → Lt. → etc. (external from 1-4 Soldier Rank) just to get special sort of bonus XP and shoulderpatches

Most ranking systems offer 1-20 Ranks (for example Germany Gefreiter → Generalfeldmarschal), or for hostorical correctness we stop at something like Colonel wich probably was the highest field rank

This combined with awards/medals for each individual soldier would be even better!

YES.
I mentioned your suggestion in my topic. Good idea!

While absolutely cool I don’t think people wear their medals into combat, and they were usually assigned their medals after their battles or even after the war entirely.

sure, it would be cool being able to assign medals to out favorite soldiers for extra customization.

it doesn’t really matter if it’s historical or not.
half of the things in this game aren’t historical.
i don’t see why stop for a few medals.

anyway, limits should be to 4 i’d think.
to avoid looking like korean generals and borderline out of hand.

and it would also make veterans keep playing and stray for objectives / playing their favorite squads for small visual rewards.
a sense of accomplishment for trinkets hoards like me.

Thats what I am thinking about.

Yes they do - there is a reason why so many medals are beeing found on the old battlefields.

If they did, then let’s do it! My Germans will be so shiny that even Hitler would be jealous.
