What do you guys use?
I recently started playing BR5, but I am still using the same BR2 P-40 aircraft that I used to play with.
I love being able to use the fighter to quickly drop 250kg bombs on tanks. If you use it well, you can even destroy a Tiger II.
However, if I am going to play BR5, I want to fly high tier planes.
Any recommendations?
I use P-40E-1 and Su-2.

The true BR5 gigachads, aka: soviet P40 and soviet Hurricane
(I guess La-7 and IL-10 are the fallbacks, if the TRUE BR5 OBLITERATION MACHINES failed to do their job

La-7 for flexibility, Yak-9T for something fresh.

Every other German fighter is easy picking, the Bf 109 K-4 have 30 mm MK 108 as the main canon. I play both of these planes a lot.
Since Enlisted donβt have gun harmonization I found out that the lead indicator for the Bf 109 K-4 is catered for the 13 mm MG 131 until it run out of ammo then the indicator switch to the lead of the much slower 30 mm rounds. This mean if your opponent is flying the best German fighter and shoot at the lead indicator they will only hit you with the 13 mm bullets.
I donβt remember ever losing a dogfight in the La-7 even when it start out with me in the front, I only get shot down by AAA on the ground.
Yak-9T can destroy every German tank in the game with itβs 37 mm NS-37 canon except for the Tiger II H. The Yak-9T is not as good as the La-7 but you can provide gun CAS.

Destroying tanks with machine guns seems to require technique.
And the low machine gun ammunition count of 200 rounds also seems to indicate that this is an advanced aircraft.
But it could be fun.
Is it a Gold Order aircraft?
I might buy that one too. Itβs convenient to skip the grind.

Itβs belt is not all AP, IL2-37 is better at this point
Itβs rather easy since the Yak-9 variants are maneuverable. I just found out this canon can also destroy Tiger II H. I shot 9x 37 mm rounds at the engine deck from a steep dive to start a fire. So pretty much all German tanks can be destroyed by the 37 mm canon.
Sometime you get an ammo rack kill with 1 lucky shot, and itβs so satisfying.

IL10 and LA7, Soviet aircraft.
But to be honest, Soviet planes are garbage.
Just compare them with German, especially American planes.

Do not use this mode to test aviation, you will not do anything to tanks in real combat.
These are just terrible planes.
