Trenches are a useful tool in the game, but unfortunately still have some major issues that currently don’t have a counter. These majorly fall into 2 categories:
-
Trenches are being used as a more effective counter to tanks than the actual Czech Hedgehogs. Once a trench is dug (usually about 2-3 meters wide) it becomes impossible for a tank to pass. There are no available ways to counter this currently. An option to make a bridge type structure would help significantly.
-
When using trenches for offense, they are still almost entirely susceptible to artillery, mortars, and aircraft bombs. If a “bridge” type option was added, it could also double as a roof for trenched areas. It would still be small enough so that it couldn’t be used to cover the entire trench length, but rather make small areas of cover along the trench. Ideally they would act similar to Czech Hedgehogs in that explosives won’t take them out. (TNT perhaps would be the exception. It would give TNT a viable use.) If under one of these covers, soldiers must be crouched or prone, unable to stand, and therefore unable to move quickly.
