Some prototype weapons for allies

The Lewis automatic rifle was a post-WW1 light machine gun. The ‘Assault Phase Rifle’ was intended to replace or supplement the Lewis gun and compete with the M1918 BAR

Ribeyrolles M1918 Automatic Carbine. Developed by the French. It used a bespoke 8x35SR cartridge

Winchester M1907 Carbine in “assault” configuration, with bayonet and extended magazine. The French bought several hundred of these, some modified to allow fully automatic fire.

The Burton Model 1917, also known as the Winchester-Burton, was an American automatic rifle that was designed by Frank Burton.

Winchester-Pugsley Anti-tank rifle, chambered in .50BMG
image
Model 45AIt was meant to be a battle rifle/light machine gun, though development stopped as the war ended abruptly.

The Hyde-Bendix was a carbine that entered the 1940 US light rifle trials

Cod Vanguard was the worst game I’ve ever played, this gun was added to season one of that game if I’m not mistaken. The Hyde M1944 was an attempt by George Hyde to manufacture a light rifle for the US Armed Forces. The M1944 Hyde Carbine was more reliable and accurate than the M1 Carbine that was adopted. It also had the capability of select fire, which made it very similar to a StG-44.

The Auto-Ordnance carbine was a prototype recoil-operated carbine invented by Mr. Bergman and submitted to the US light rifle trials
image
The Harrington and Richardson light rifle was a prototype carbine submitted to the US light rifle trials
image
The Savage carbine was a prototype recoil-operated light rifle submitted to the 1941 ‘Light rifle’ trials
image
The Garand Model 1919 is a prototype semi-automatic rifle/light machine gun. The weapon was used during the development of the M1 Garand.

The Clarke carbine was a prototype carbine submitted to U.S military testing in 1944.
image
The Garand carbine was a prototype carbine designed by John Garand and submitted by Springfield Armory to the U.S’ 1941 Light rifle program also there is a D variant with a box magazine

The Woodhull carbine was a prototype straight blow-back carbine submitted to the US light rifle trials

The Thompson Light Rifle was an attempt by Auto-Ordnance to manufacture a light rifle for the US Armed Forces. The overall weapon was based on their well-proven .45 ACP submachine gun although the first prototype actually was based on the M1921 and it almost resembles the MG42. The only major differences from the SMG was the barrel shroud, pressed steel components to ease production/reduce weight and the inlined stock reduced barrel climb improving accuracy. The Thompson Light Rifle was more reliable and accurate than the M1 Carbine that was adopted and also came with the capability of select fire, which made it close to the likes of the STG-44 despite the round it used.
Well if you like Thompson but thought: (Oh I wish I could use it like an assault rifle) that is your answer BTW some carbines in the list are capable of firing fully automatic

Can you suggest a name then pls?thx

These are pretty cool options. One I might add is the T20 Garand, which is a select fire M1 modified to accept BAR magazines.
