Some pics of the US Navy and what I recently bought

While scouring the internet I found some cool old pictures of the US Navy.
As a nerd of the U.S. Navy, I found them all fascinating, so I’m sharing them here.

After seeing these pictures :point_up_2:, I impulsively bought a Premier squad LVT!!!

This ride is seriously too cool!
I am going to ride this thing around this weekend. :love_you_gesture: :love_you_gesture: :love_you_gesture:

Now I own two LVTs. Too bad there is not yet a map where they can depart from the water. I hope that someday a map will be implemented that will take advantage of their true capabilities.

I would love to have more of my US Navy/Navy decks, Darkflow please sell something on the US Navy and Marine Corps again.

I know you appreciate the Corsair and so do I.
Last week or so, by lucky chance of youtube recommendation, I saw a documentary about that plane.
It contained some fun facts.
I will share them for fun, sorry if you already knew.

Why are the wings shaped the way they are?
Apparently the propeller of this plane was the largest of WW2.
It blew back so much air, that the normal wings could not generate enough lift to make the plane fly.
So the wings got their shape as we know them.

BUT that did not solve the problem entirely.
When attempting to land on a carrier, the speed would be low and the lift on the left wing could suddenly drop.
Causing the plane to violently turn left and down.
Many crashed and only really good pilots could overcome this issue.
The issue was eventually fixed very easily: by placing a very small piece of material on the left wing.
Only a few centimeters in size was enough to completely stop the lift from dropping.
It was placed on the wing, between the fuselage and the cannons (the place where most air is blown towards by the propeller).
It should be in the red circle somewhere, but I cant find it on a picture.

I enjoyed reading your story sir!
I didn’t know all these stories, thanks for sharing these interesting stories with us!
A good aircraft has the “beauty of rationality”!
When I hear design secrets like that, it makes it all the more fascinating!

I am so glad that Darkflow has implemented this aircraft in their game, and WARHEAD’s story has made me want to own a Corsair.
I already have one in the game, but I may go out and buy a model kit this weekend that I can display on my desk.

By the way, have you seen the movie “Devotion” on NETFLIX yet sit?
It’s a great movie with a lot of great action by the Corsairs!
It’s a Mig HD Devotion (2022) USMC Vought F4U-4 Corsairs Vs Mig-15 - YouTube

You are very welcome, sir.

I have seen it a while ago, now that you remember me of it, I need to watch it again sometime.
Because I remember it as a drama, the devotion is to his wife, not the war or country.
But the action in the trailer looks good so I will watch it again.

BTW I saw in your video, you selected the AP-1.
One of the least used planes in the game I believe, do you actually use it and like it?

Another fun fact: I never see the AP-1 plane in the game, I have the golden order version but never use it, but today you post about it, and yesterday I was blow up by it!

I played Germany BR3 in the Bulge, was very surprised to see an AP-1, was even more surprised that his bomb killed my squad from this distance! :bomb:

For low BR, the P-38 can be used, and for high BR, the P-47 can be used, so if you are only looking for strength, you may not dare to choose the TBF Avenger.

However, I sometimes use it because I like that plane. Those planes are fun!

Btw, I like the ability to enjoy looking at the troops and vehicles in this game. Even when I don’t feel like playing the game, I start the game just to look at them. :grinning:

I used to think it was pricey to spend $30~ for additional content for the game. I could buy a model kit for the same amount of money.

Even now, when I buy a premier squadron, I think long and hard about whether I really want it… but when I enjoy looking at the models like this, I’m glad I bought it.
Being able to use them in games and the fact that no matter how many times they are destroyed :boom:, they will be fixed after the game is over is sometimes more fun than a model kit.

One of the things that makes this game different from other FPS games, and one of the things that makes this game unique, is the fun of collecting squads.
I was obsessed with collecting military miniatures as a kid, and this game is like having a battle with the miniatures you collect.
A dream game. Fun.
