Hello comrades and gentlemen and good day everyone. Today I decided to talk and make a post on such an interesting topic as Greek weapons from World War II. In the post I have included some unique Greek weapons that I found interesting. And I hope someday we will be able to see some of these samples in our game. I also hope you will be interested in reading this. Let’s go
!
The Greek Makrykano M1943 submachine gun was developed in 1942-1943 and used by the Greek resistance. It was produced in small quantities due to lack of resources. There were 2 versions of this submachine gun, with different calibers: 1 for .45 ACP and 2 for 9×19mm Parabellum.

- Caliber: .45 ACP or 9×19mm Parabellum.
- Ammunition feeding system: detachable box magazine for 20-30 rounds. 12
- Rate of fire: estimated 400-500 rounds per minute.
It will be an event/premium weapon or an event/premium unit for Allies on 2BR. But preferably an event.
The Rigopoulos rifle is a Greek semi-automatic rifle developed in 1941 by Greek Army Lieutenant Rigas Rigopoulos.
The Rigopoulos rifle was developed by Lt. Rigas Rigopoulos during World War II (spring 1941), and was essentially an improved version of the Mannlicher-Schönauer rifle.
Mannlicher-Schönauer rifle.
The Mannlicher-Schönauer rifle was also reported to be capable of automatic fire. It was not just a semi-automatic rifle, but an automatic rifle.
The Greek Army approved the rifle for production in Volos, but the rifle was never produced. The Axis invasion of Greece began
Mechanism of the Rigopoulos rifle
- Weapon type: Semi-automatic rifle/automatic rifle
- Caliber: 6.5×54 mm Mannlicher-Schönauer.
- Action: Semi-automatic/automatic
- Feeding system: detachable box magazine for 20 rounds.
It will be an event/premium weapon or an event/premium unit for Allies or Germany on 5BR. But preferably an event.
This is a Greek Assault Rifle, you are not mistaken. Before the STG-44. It was developed between 1937 and 1939.
It was developed by the Greek Powder and Cartridge Company (GPCC), later known as Pyrkal. Hence the name - EPK “Light machine gun”
The creation of this machine gun, or assault rifle, was linked to EPK’s ambitions to become a major manufacturer of infantry weapons. At the suggestion of the Greek government, development of a modern “light machine gun” of its own design began in 1937, and production of a small number of prototypes began in 1939. The entire project, including the construction of the infrastructure for mass production of the weapon, was rolled out in the late fall of 1940. In the same year 1940, the war with Italy began and Greece was no longer up to the establishment of production of experimental weapons. All managed to collect somewhere from 10 to 15 prototypes, one of them according to some data presented to a member of the Greek royal family.
And now the cartridge. Experimental intermediate cartridge 7.92x36 was created in 1936 - 1937 in the following way: shortened cartridge case from 6.5 Mannlicher rifle cartridge + bullet from German 7.92x57 Mauser cartridge.

- Cartridge - 7.92x36
- weight without cartridges - 4.15 kg
- total length - 900 mm
- barrel length - 400 mm
- gas operated
- rate of fire - 720 rounds per minute
- effective range - 750 m
- initial bullet velocity - 823 m/s, but there are also data that 520 - 560 m/s.
- 30 rounds box magazine.
It will be an event/premium weapon or an event/premium unit for Allies on 5BR. But preferably an event.

The Modified Hotchkiss or EYP Hotchkiss is a Greek improvement of the French Hotchkiss M1926 machine gun, which in turn was a development of the Hotchkiss M1914 machine gun.

Greek soldiers of the 8th Infantry Division on the Albanian front, 1940, with the EYP Hotchkiss medium machine gun.
Before World War II, the existing stocks of French-built weapons were modernized by the Athens-based Eforeia Ylikou Polemou (EYP), the Greek Army’s war materiel department. The main improvement was to increase the rate of fire to 420 rounds/min and improve stability. The machine gun was used extensively by the Greek Army during World War II.
The caliber was 7.92 mm and weight 12.75 kg, as the gun had a heavier barrel with radiators for greater durability in long-term use, and rested on the heaviest weight tripod for improved stability.
Some were captured by the Italian Army and used in various places, for example, in Sicily in 1943.
- Weight: 12.75 kg
- Length: 1.216 mm
- Caliber: 7.92 mm
- Rate of fire: 450 rounds per minute.
- Sights: Iron, open sights.
It will be an event/premium weapon or an event/premium unit for Germany on 2BR. But preferably an event.
“Churnat Grenade” is a grenade developed in 1941 by the Churnat war industry, Greece. It was used by the Greek resistance organization EAM-ELAS between 1941 and 1944 during World War II.
The grenade was created by Alekos Papageorgiou, founder of the Churnat industry. Materials available at the time, such as sulfur and potassium chloride, were used for its manufacture.
All the while, Papageorgiou was preoccupied with the needs of war. He was inspired by the method of making improvised defensive grenades from materials he could find in the pharmacies of those years. Almost all pharmacies gave the necessary materials for the needs of the race without much explanation. Sulfur and potassium chloride.
He melted the aforementioned materials together with nails inside sliced small tubes and with the help of his “homemade grenade ring” , he made defensive grenades
Personally, I’d prefer to make “Churnat Grenade” a unique grenade for future Allied Event Greek squads armed with the above weapons. Or just a unique event grenade for eventers and veteran’s boxes/
Which of these weapons would you like to see in the game?
