Some HMG related feedback

First of all, they feel great.
Accuracy is decent, firepower is good, overheating is nicely balanced.

Now issues:

  • Because of HMGs, MG nests are basically useless.
Why would anyone use MG nest? They are much harder to unlock and they are generally worse.
Imo you should move HMG to engineer squads (prefferably to engi I instead of engi II) and give MG nest to gunner squads.
Currently it doesn’t make any sense.

  • MG 131
It’s cool and all but imo it’s too much of a unicorn to be a standard gun. Imo it should be available only in Berlin as kind of a last ditch weapon.
For normandy and moscow, 2cm flak would make more sense imo. Germans used it quite a bit in this role so imo it would add more authenticity. (No shield though, we all know how it would end.)
    Alternative is MG34 or MG42 with AP ammo but it’s a copy-paste.

    Pros:

    • HE rounds (2cm so nothing ground breaking), option to switch to AP
    • 360* turn radious

    Cons:

    • it’s large
    • slow firing
    • can’t be placed indoors

For Tunisia please change it to italian gun (come on, don’t be lazy).

  • Infinite ammo.
Please guys, add finally reloading! Keep infinite total ammo if you want but introduce a need for reload.

  • We could use some kind of suppression. This one is controversial, I know.
The reason is as follows: I noticed that sometimes when a bunch of enemies walk into a MG nest, one of them manages to kill you while you are shooting the others. It’s caused by things like: inability to shoot all of them at once, smoke from your gun is covering your targets, you fire in bursts etc.
So suppression effect at least for bots would be great to avoid those annoying situations.

Im using both now and i have to re-confirm that mg nests is almost a sidegrade

  • I need 1 enginer for build the HMG in some seconds,it fire fast and overheat slow, have a fast cooldown, plus, it can kill ligth tank, plane or damage a bit heavy tank

  • I need 5 enginer togheter for build the mg nest in the same time, it overheats to fast to slow cooldown and dont damage tank or plane

Imo the mg nest need be aviable already from the first enginer squad and his build time need lowered to the one of the sandbag

HMG must be unlocked for 2nd engineers and 2nd mg squads.
MG for 1st engineers and 1st mg squad.

Then it would be a straight upgrade. So basically we throw MG nest to trash after a while.
Personally I don’t like it.

Like and many many other things.

But yes, this is not good option.

Btw, they at least make unique axe for Tunisia axis.

And for allies too

To be honest, it surprised me. (sorry for off topic)

Yes, no sadly no big differences.

Buff the MG-nests regarding building time and cool down time.
As I said in another post, I think this all about the novelty.
They want ppl to try their new stuff, but in time everything will be balanced out.

Novelty or not, MG nests are rendered obsolete in every way. Even if they would have the same building time I’d still go for HMGs.

This, this and again this. @1942786 @James_Grove

i would give the lmgs scopes

Tbh HMG feel like marketing gag to sell the new Moscow bundle.

So far only tested the MG131 on test field. Deals way too much dmg against map sandbags.

MG nests need some rework tbh.
But that’s a different topic.

The hmg icon in the squad upgrade tree doesn’t match the style of the other icons: it has black shadows while none of the other icons have any black.

I really like these mgs as they are right now… but the normal mg nests literally became useless, they need to buff them somehow… (Maybe shorten the time to build it? Slower overheating?)

Slower overheating

Ya the ammunition for the MG 131 had eclectic primers and needed a power source to work, note the batterie on this test/training stand, it had no conventual firing pin. It was never used as a primary HMG in a ground role.

I agree the Breda Model 1931 would be a better choice (basically the same gun the Japanese are using), both were license built Hotchkiss 13.2 mm.

Note the battery on this test/training stand

A twin mount MG 34/43 would be better imo if we must have a German HMG , HMG’s should not really be tank killers anyway.

The MG 34/42 was considered a HMG if it was mounted on it’s tripod, where it often had optics and higher potential sustained ROF.

My point is they have other better realistic options than the MG 131, Honestly I think they guys building this game only know about WW2 from Wikipedea and have no real understand of the conflict.

Have to agree about regular MG nests being useless, the HMGs can shoot down planes even (at least in the Pacific).

MGs like the Maxim style guns are legendary for their ability to keep firing without failing

Augment their fire angles… lmg nests are not worth building just because you can’t effectively cover the area you want unless you’re 200m away…

Hmg have good firing angles. Don’t know why lmg nest have not… especially when unlocked much later…

Extremely limited firing angles and vulnerability make MG nests almost useless. They’re unusable on higher grounds since you can’t point the gun down, they’re a big target a two bullets can knock them down.

I like the HMGs, fun to use, not difficult to counter even for infantry since you’re exposed - it kinda feels the gap of old AA (in terms of firing on ground targets), but much better balanced.
