As it stands right now, many players are not satisfied with the current matchmaking system. One significant complaint that I see often is the uptiering and downtiering of BR3.
My proposed solution to the matchmaking is simple. Divide the BR matchmaking into these queues:
Low BR: BR 1 and BR 2 only.
(Why? With the Steam release coming soon, there will be an influx of new players. These new players should not queue against BR3 equipment, because it’s likely that these players will lack even basic commodities such as engineer classes. Give new players a simple environment to get their feet on the ground before moving into higher BRs.)
Mid BR: BR 3 and BR 4 only
(Why? Almost the entire selection of BR4 gear is completely unviable because of it’s placement with BR5. The equipment in BR5 such as assault rifles and battle rifles make using semi auto rifles a bad choice. Additionally, some BR3 equipment such as the KV-1 may be overwhelming for BR1 players. A dedicated medium BR tier would be best to showcase medium tanks and semi auto rifles.)
High BR: BR5 only
(Why? BR5 equipment is an entire league of its own. The automatic rifles such as the FG42 and AVT and M2 carbine are many steps above the equipment before them. It is not logical to force the SVT-40 and G43 into the same matchmaking as them.)
Yes, this proposal would add an additional matchmaking bracket, however, the influx of new players from the Steam release should offset this.
Please add your own thoughts to my proposal, I hope enough activity will get the attention of Darkflow. This is an idea that I honestly believe Darkflow should consider in order to improve the way matchmaking is handled.
br 2 will be crushed vs tier 3, there is no tier 2 tank that can pen tier 3 tank, and semi auto vs bolt action is not gonna be good, its better tier 3 vs 3 or tier 3 vs 4.
BR1 can fight BR2 and BR3 can fight BR4, the power of these BRs are not extremely far apart. BR1 and BR2 vehicles may need a little revision because BR1 tanks are 20mm pea shooters but generally, the infantry weapons of these tiers are in a good enough position against each other.
The issue is that BR4 is not suitable for BR5, which makes semi automatic rifles unviable with battle rifles in the tier. Iconic weapons such as the SVT-40 do not have a comfortable place in the meta.
Doesn’t matter, they always will be in disadvantage.
Plus there would be no point to have 5 BR levels. You could just merge BR 1 and 2 into one. Same goes for BR 3 and 4.
And so many vehicles/weapons would be complete irrelevant because of meta.
i think +/- 1 is really the best solution and the easy way for Devs.
Atleast we all can agree they have to do something about that, did they ever mentioned anything about it on Forum?
While I can acknowledge your ideas as sound the primary issue of BR5 being a significant, significant leap up from BR4 still remains in a +/- 1 BR ranking system
i prefer team with bot rather than get uptiers, thats why my opinion is 1 + 2 3 + 4 and 5 alone, so it gear is same power, but iam sure there is gonna be a lot of new player when it release to steam so iam pretty sure br 1 and 2 will not lack player, sorry for bad english
I’ve played all BRs for all factions now and the only issue is equipping yourself as BR3.
BR 1 - 3 is fine - sometimes you come up against better gear, but you’re also teamed up with it. I’ve not had any balance issues playing as BR1/2 and it’s quick to progress through.
BR4 and 5 is fine - I have some BR5 bits, but almost all my stuff is BR4 and again, perfectly competirive - think I still even have some BR3 stuff in the mix. Quite like BR5 as I can just use the best of what I have and mix it up - remember, this used to be all we had! There were no limitations or matching up of gear! It’s fine, 65% win rate and usually in top 3.
BR3 is admittedly an issue though, so I’ve just stopped playing specifically as BR3. It’s either to easy or you’ll just constantly get blown up or walk into blind auto fire with no response. It was kind of OK for allies just about, but Germany was terrible.
So for now, I’ll have a BR2 line up to swap in when I want a change, but for the most part I’ll be ignoring BR and selecting my beat available, like we always used to.
I can sort of see an argument for BR1 being alone, as it’s where all the new players start. So if it were to change I’d be up for BR1 to be separated, then 2/3 and 4/5.
