Solothurn S18-1000: 20mm With a Scope!

Note: Not to be confused with the earlier S18-100 model
In terms of anti-tank rifles, Germany currently has the least damaging and some of the slowest firing ones of any nation. So, why don’t we give them the exact opposite of that! A massive semi-automatic 20mm anti-tank rifle fed from 10 round magazines, and even equipped with a scope! This would be a very powerful anti-tank weapon for low tier, similar to the Japanese Type 97 anti-tank rifle, but with more penetration, larger magazines, and a scope. Would no doubt be abused as a sniper, but an incredibly high move speed penalty, relatively low zoom scope, lower accuracy, and massive recoil could serve to balance it out to be not too great for dedicated sniping. I think this could make a great addition to a BR2 lineup, basically being the polar opposite of the Panzerfäust.

At BR3 though…I mean it’s 20mm,same as the type 97,which will do absolutely nothing against most BR2 and all BR3 tanks, and only has 3 more rounds, and it’s on BR1,and a CM said the PTRS being lowered is being forwarded as well.the scope seems…like a gimmick, sure it magnifies, but I don’t think that should drag it to fight shermans and KV1s .I do think it should be added, but at BR 1 or 2.

Solothurn S18-100 is alreay in the editor. In some senses, it’s the worst AT rifle in game. Because it cannot be used when not set up on the bipod.

I guess they will give it as a reward for an event @GER BR1, to test the feasibility of adding the same mechanism to Type 97

I only said BR3 because I thought that the PTRS was also at BR3, but I was mistaken and it’s actually BR2. That’s my bad.

That will definitelyruin it. Bipod system in game suck very hard.

I’m not talking about the 100, I’m talking about the 1000, which is the improved variant firing the more powerful 20x138B cartridge rather than the 20x105B

Comparative trials of the 13.2 mm and 20 mm anti-tank rifles took place in the summer of 1939. The resulted were mixed. The 20 mm gun was much heavier, but the penetration was not considerably greater than that of its lighter competitor.

A BR3 AT gun will be in a very awkward situation. It could neither fight the T-34 or Sherman head-on, nor was it mobile quickly enough to get around the side of tank.
But if it’s in BR2, it seems way too powerful.

I think that if they completely overhauled the bipod system it might work as a mechanic, but in its current state it would be a terrible idea. What might work in the meantime is something like the system you had in the old Stalingrad campaign where you needed stamina to aim with heavy weapons, combined with being able to aim without stamina while prone. But I would only want this for the absolute heaviest 20mm anti-tank rifles, not like in Stalingrad where you needed stamina for machine guns too.

Game breaking but yes, I would love to see that in the game
