I know that the core damage mechanics of tank gameplay is balanced around explosive filler, but dang it… no explosive filler truly means no post pen damage.
US tanks absolutely are very unsatisfying to play because of that, even solid AP should deal enough area damage after penetration - a tank being penetrated multiple times without any effect is ridiculous.

Most US tanks had access to APHE shell (not the British sadly), but Sherman/Lee/Grant don’t get them because… reason ? Shermans at BR3 should get them honestly, their AT capabilities are lackluster.

Yes, but again, the core damage system should be reworked.
Giving Shermans simply APHE would only “move” the core issue out of sight.

P.S.
Also, I wanna see Comet tanks in the future, but thats off topic - or actually Comets also used 17 pounders didn’t they? So they would also have terrible post pen damage…

Ahaha me too honestly, but I don’t know if it would be good in the game.
Well yes and no, the Comet used the 77mm HV gun which is a 17 pdr with a shorter breach. It fired the same amo as the 17 pdr but in a shorter case, otherwise the gun would have been to large for the turret. TLDR, it uses a worse 17 pdr with lower shell velocity and thus lower penetration.
In game it would be more or less similar to the Firefly, with slightly worse gun but slightly better mobility and armor.
