Now that we will get a new progession system where soldiers don’t vanish, I want to suggest soldier transfer between campaigns (like weapons).
And I suggest that you think about campaign medals. If a soldier was long enough in active dutiy (gained a certain amount of exp in campaign), that he gains a campaign medal.
Old soldiers that participated the war on multiple theatres of war would kinda look badass in my opinion.
We still need the implementation of actual ranks for troops.
Hopefully in a historical manner. I wouldn’t expect a squad of 8 Lieutenant Colonels running around with BAR’s and bazookas.
First, allow the transfer with equipment. This way you don’t have to also mess with the transfer weapon system AND it allows you to move the full panoply of items from packs to grenades to mines to weapons.
Second, the troop could lose the appropriate unlocks when transferred. Meaning that if you transfer a trooper II with all upgrades (Pistol, pack, XP, etc.) and you transfer it to a campaign where you haven’t unlocked that stuff for a trooper it would lose them. All gear the trooper couldn’t carry would be transferred to that campaigns gear pool. And you would have to unlock those abilities with the appropriate squad. This is only fair as unlock progression is an important part of the business model. Also, this should work in reverse. If you move a Trooper II with no unlocks to a campaign where you have unlocked everything you would get the unlocks.
Third, Any allied troop should be able to go to any allied campaign and any axis troop should be able to go to any axis campaign. Each troop would have a Russian, American, British name (or German and Italian). And the name would change depending on the campaign.
