So, i am probably not the only one who thought about this.
You get a new campaign and the reward is a new squad of (for example) Riflemen mk.2. You are happy for the new weapons that it ulocked and also the new rank of rifleman class. Then, you go to switch it up and prepare for the grind of lvling up the squad. But the, the amount of work and maybe callsign cards you used on the old soldiers kinda hits you.
So, how about you dont have to start a completely new team, but if your mk.1 rifleman has his max lvl of 5 reached, you can use a certain amount of silver or bronze troop orders to “rank him up” to mk.2? This could (for balance purposes) nullify all of the perks, so you have to lvl the trooper up again, but you can keep him in the new squad instead of switching him up for a new soldier.
I just like the idea of keeping my old pal in the squad and not changing him.
the thing is that is not necessary to get the level 2 soldiers whatsoever. The only thing they offer is 1 or 2 points more for each ability tree and a different starting perk that usually sucks. You can unlock the squad and never use it. the only reason to level up lets say assaulter 2, is if you want to get the weapon unlock tree so you can upgrade the weapon that comes with it. you could just use your level 1 soldiers on said squad and thats it. and also thats what i do cause the higher the rank the more expensive it is to unlock for no convinience what so ever. atm the only worthy higher rank soldiers are, assaulter 3 (comes with +100% medpack regen) rifleman 3 (comes with +15% medpack usage) and flametrooper 2 (comes with +12.5% vitality), and i choose these because you can take some nasty perk combinations with these that will actually help in battle. the rest i just take the level 1 cause the grind is so big that you need to.
I think i see what you´re pointing at. Ill just research second main weapon for the mk.2´s and incorporate them with my main squad. Thanks for the reply!
Rifleman rank II are nice tho.
If you accept not to have the “2.5s revive perk” (8vitality), you can pick “+15% running speed” (16 vitality) and have close to 20% running speed bonus plus your point in speed.
I’m sure they will make a rework of the perks.
+35% health is cheated.
Also there is still the lock “veteran” perk at the end of the red tree.
For the moment it’s useless to spend the bronze order on most rankII or rankIII soldier.
if you pick rifleman 3 with +15% med pack usage as a starter perk and 75% medpack usage you get 90% which is totally croocked. 0.8 seconds to get up. plus 200% medpack regen, you wind up getting a second chance most of the time. but of course what you propose is also a good set up.
