Soldier Class: Officer

Cost: 2 or 3 silver orders.

Lmit: No more than 1 per squad (Unless if you don’t put an officer in your squad)

Abilities: More commands (tell a machine gunner or squad to lay down suppressive fire on a spot, throw all grenades, tell half of squad to go left while other half goes right, tell squad members to take cover, maybe something like an actual bayonet charge, etc.) When marking, the marks stay until the officer dies.

Passive abilities: 5-10% more Accuracy, 5-10% faster firing rate, 5-10% faster relead, 5-10% faster building speed, -30 seconds off artillery strike cooldown, bots do reasonable actions like not shooting at the enemy from 2km away unless told to do so. These can be unlocked through personal upgrades.

Abilities only apply to current squad.

Weapons/equipment: Assault weapons, no secondary, 1 pistol, binoculars, backback/grenade pouch/ammo bag (to give to a squad member if they’re low on ammo).

When killed: No officer buffs, quad can not be given order from anyone, for 15 seconds. 5-10% decrease in accuracy, firing rate, reload speed, building speed. If officer can not be seen by squad members or squad members are already fighting and are “distracted”, they will not recieve any debuffs, however, they will not get any officer buffs and when fighting ends, they get the debuff for 15 seconds.

Rewards for killing officer: 1 bronze order of choice, 250 exp to person who killed officer (idk what you get for killing a regular soldier so i’m going with this)

weird concept: Maybe they can create a battle plan and share it with people. Or they can tell other players to attack a certain spot (example from wt: ATTENTION TO THE MAP, or ATTACK THE D POINT)

If you have any ideas or critiques, please say.

An NCO would be better choice

Interesting concept. Here’s the thing tho, i sort of sugested the same thing in a post about sniping, the concept of receiving more xp for HVTs. If the officer gets you more XP than a regular infantry then there should be differential XP gains for different roles because if a player plays the sniper role as irl, then XP should be based on the importance of the target not by the number of kills. Most of the replies we’re in the lines of “snipers are the worst for xp, you should play as smth more important for the team”, for which my reply was “if they are more important then why shouldn’t i get more xp for taking certain HVT’s out”.
Your ideea falls in the same area and it might stir up some strong reactions

That is true. The only thing I can think of is of how many of that solider class is there on that team and what a certain solider or group of soliders is doing on that team. For example, you kill 1 AT gunner class and there is 1 AT gunner on that entire team. Let’s say you get 100 xp. Then you kill 1 machine gunner and there is 10 machine gunners on that team, you get 20 xp or something. Or if you kill a guy who’s been killing everyone on your team, 100 xp. Similar to 1 machine gunner doing supressive fire on an entire group of soliders, if you kill him, you get 200 xp.

well… not sure about that, 3 AT gunners are 3 times more deadly than one AT gunner

I worded that pretty bad. Let me explain better. If there’s only 1 AT gunner on that team and you kill him, because he would do more damage to vehicles than a solider with an explosive pack, you would get 100 XP for killing him.

So basically you’re talking about HVT’s… MG gunners, AT gunners, AT and AA gun operators, flamethrower troops, radio operators, engineers, etc

pretty much

Well… if you want to see where this discusion is gonna go, check the one on “improving sniping” that i started, it’s basicaly the same thing

Officer should not have any grenade pouches, ammo pouches or backpacks, these would be cumbersome for him to bring, also reinforces the idea that he is a supplement to the squad that should be protected, not someone you can just simply half heartedly throw away or use as your point man in clearing an objective.

If a squad has an officer present, all marks against infantry will have the same effect against vehicles and will display the following info to the team via map.

  • Enemy squad size
  • Enemy squad type

Due to enlisted’s spaghetti coding, we can’t say for sure if these extra command abilities would work, you never know if upon commanding your gunner to open fire would just lead him to spam all the bullets in a wall for 3 minutes. However the passive abilities are much easier to implement and are very useful

Officer can also have the unique trait of being 100% customizable, gold order prices may vary

Yes NCOs, let them have SMGs so I can have an SMG and a LMG in the rifle squad and feel complete

That’s a pretty good take ngl. I would only change the 100% cusomizable to a more likely to get that trait.

If there was an officer class the officer should be limit to one active per account, not one for every squad.
Officers usually dont lead small troops, they lead platoons or more likely companies.

You could have different officers providing different bonuses.
Something like arty officer for radio or mortar squad increasing arty duration or mortar grenades.

Maybe they should start small and change I - V to real ranks. :man_shrugging:

I’d prefer an Officer squad, and it would work similar to CoH, providing a soft stat buff, movement increase but at the cost of being a smaller squad.
Maybe also having the choise of picking a unique artillery/ airstrike too?

So, you could either provide soft stat buffs, a single but larger calibre artillery strike or something like a Nerbelwerfer/ Katuskya rocket strike.
