SOC-1 Seagull has cardboard bombs. I drop them on a defended point full of enemies and they don’t hurt or kill anyone.
100 pound bombs don’t even stun, because on the Japanese side I already hit 100% and I already noticed the low efficiency of American bombs.
So I thought that their low efficiency was due to the poor drop ability of the enemies, but I was wrong.
Dropped on Japanese vehicles, they damage the track, they don’t even break it.
I don’t know what the error is because the same bombs in Tunisia normally destroy vehicles.
I have had some success with them, so they do work, but as they are small and the terrain on the Pacific maps is more varied you do need to be more precise.
Tunisia is more forgiving for bombs, less stuff to absorb the blast damage.
You have been lucky though, to live long enough to actually drop your bombs when flying the seagull is an achievement in and of itself.
Yeah, flying the seagull is an, “interesting” experience. It flies like I would expect a brick would.
It’s really slow so seeing where troops are is easy and you can bomb the enemy without guessing.
Pacific as a whole seems to be having issues with explosives as a whole right now. I say this because we have been experiencing issues with not just bombs, but HE shells from tanks and AT field guns, artillery, bombers, and mortars.
I’m not sure exactly what they are doing, but it seems like Pacific is a testing ground of some sort where the devs are trying to rebalance explosions. Unfortunately right now, they are all nerfed into oblivion, and the hits are not registering like they are supposed to.
I was using the D3A1 plane from the Japanese for example. It has a 250kg bomb that it drops. I landed it directly in a massive crowd of soldiers running down the hill. My teammates that I was partied up with saw it hit, with people above it, beside it, and under it on the hill. It only killed like 3 or 4 people when it very well should have killed at LEAST 15. Cover was not an issue.
Until they address it, and sort it out, I’m afraid Pacific isn’t really a viable campaign when it comes to pretty much any kind of explosive ordinance.
On a sidenote: you can pierce through walls again, especially with vehicle MGs/ cannons and AT rifles. If nothing else, use your MGs on a plane to strafe the buildings and you can actually get kills. Save the bombs for trying to kill tanks and weapon emplacements.
I understand that on each campaign they test different mechanics and sometimes add shovels or bombers to the rest of the campaign, but Japanese bombs weighing 13 kg more than American ones and they work every time. I understand 13 kg more, but it’s still a small difference because even those dropped from the American carpet raid are weaker.
I sacrificed myself and bought a premium aircraft on the Allied side CA-12 Boomerang MK2. And he has two bombs of 250 pounds each (113 kg).
It also has two 20mm cannons.
And what turned out that these bombs are also made of cardboard, and the cannon spits pimpongs, and the 7.7mm ammunition is a joke because it ricochets from the Japanese uniform.
What is this plane shooting at? ASG BBs? Years worse than IL-2.
As if I was flying a barn, and I also have a ki-61 and the bombs in the KI-61 weigh 100kg and make a slaughter for this 20mm cannon pierce tanks the same 12.7 no KI-61 is a flying mower for Yankees.
A massacre because to shoot down a plane I have to shoot 1/4 of the fire unit, and with the KI-61 a short salvo is enough.
The Bommerang is completely not worth the price, or maybe they should give him a boost to the cannons.
Have someone load real ammo into it.
Planes are very easy to shoot down on Pacific, I usually take them down with one or two bursts, even of 7.7mm
You own a Boomerang MK2 and you say that two bursts from it are enough to shoot down a plane?
I have both too, both planes behave differently imho, the boomerang has good guns but only from 100-125m range, not far. The Ki161 is also good, much faster though, less maneuverable, both bombs destroy tanks, but have to be accurate.
I wouldn’t complain if Boomerang and Ki161 both got small buff on guns though.
Do I know if it is. Seems too weak to me. And the 113 kg bombs are weaker than the Japanese 100 kg ones.
I don’t own the Mk2 personally but if I’m not mistaken, that is what a buddy of mine uses, and a single burst will take down almost any aircraft in that campaign.
Pacific planes can literally be taken down by infantry weapons fairly easily too.
