Yeah, you know there are some “low performance” players/squads in matches. They are BOTS!
But what really affect the match balance is the human player counts in each side.
How the fuck can this happens, 2v5? Only 2 human players in Soivet side and 5 human players in German side?! Ok, everyone know current AI is like st, and can not do from complex task like using vehicle to simple task like switch weapons (yeah, I forget to change to the main weapons, and bots just keep holding the fking grenade without switching it). Ofc no situation awareness, never know where is safe to stay or safe to pass, or point out where enemies are.
So let bots fill the human counts gap is extreme unbalanced.
Suggestion:
keep human players in each side ratio at least <1:2.
If not, leave those extra players to another pure PVE match. So, no human players will get annoyed/no gameplay experience.
If someone wait for a match over 1min, give him a pure PVE match to reduce wait time.
After all, this is only a CAT test. those who gained extra xp in PVE match dose not affect any game’s income or backdoor for fast xp gained.
first of all,
i thought it was clear for everyone, but i’m gonna say it anyway. it’s an alpha.
meaning that this will be likely modified.
2nd); we don’t have many members.
balace of number on this forum should be the last thing to worry about
3rd); the game right now, tries to match players and bots.
as you have to test mechanics, tanks, vehicles, guns gadjets ecc.
4th) people have the rights to play one faction or another if possible.
5th), insthead of complaining i higly suggestion you to keep your opinion out of the suggestion tag, and/or make proper post on how you would and what you think that should be done in order to to fix this.
agreed with all your points. Also note that not every timeslot might have the same playercount, especially when you are playing at odd hours on the weekends.
All of my friends who have been invited to this CAT has now no longer play now, due to the lack of gameplay/bugs/unbalanced/unpolished/too slow progression and etc. If this game still does not improve the gameplay, especially balance-- if you keep losing you will certainly quit the game, and this game has pretty high penalty for losing-- less xp gained. The CAT active players will continue decline.
also, people do have right to choose which faction they play, but for the sake of balance, make the matchmaking system more balanced too. If too many players on one side, just give them a complete bots enemy team, and avoid things like 2:5 ratio, even 2:3 is ok.
And according to my matches today, none of the match is over half full/filled by human players. Only 3/10 are human. So, a better matchmaking system is needed to avoid these awkward situations.
BTW, this thread is not finnshed due to I dont have enough time earlier when I write.
The suggestions will be added.
Yesterday (10.5, GMT+8), from 1pm to 6pm, I kept play this game with some break, I notice playercount is always very low, <4/10, in EU/EEU server. So lack of human players to form a balanced match is a problem now.
well, as i said, in alpha you are exactly the reason why you should help people and dev, to make a fun game. but this to be honest, it’s not a constructive suggestion at all.
and if your friend doesn’t like the game, that’s totally fine and understandable.
but by not playing it, you’re not make any positive difference.
in your chase, i can agree with the progress system.
Do you know the anger if you know there’s only 2 human on your side, but other have 5?
And this occurs at least “sometimes”, make those in fewer human side players very frustrating.
Also, I dont think current human players, especially top ones, are help making this game fun, They just keep spaming mg13/panzer 2/mortar/AT gun/planes/etc, I hardly see anyone typing anything for a talk/conversation/teaching. And those new players, especially in 2nd wave of invitation, know nothing, even dont know how to AT/AA, and get even fewer point than bots. they know those are OP weapons, especially mortar, and they will keep spaming it.
BTW, I will try to say something in the further matches.
1pm GMT+8 is 4-6AM european time. Makes sense you barely see anyone playing.
For us european players, we play at 2-10pm GMT+0 for the most part. I have seen a handful of players playing the mortars a lot, but it has died down as they noticed how OP it was and they’re not as toxic to always use it.
But in 5pm, the playerbase is still very low. Meanwhile in RO2 servers, EU and EEU servers already getting busy. Especially some russians are living east than moscow, more closer to where I live.
PS: this time window, 4am~10am GMT+0, is really awkward to most people around the world. For US, it’s too late, even west US is 10pm later, for europe is too early, and for us? when we get back to home, it just end (12am~6pm). Only perfect for New Zealander(4pm~10pm)?
What makes you think those are bots? Clearly you’re underestimating how bad humans can be. Also some of those you’ve marked as bots even have swear words in their names.
Probably if you just on a game and see a fullsquad moving exacly the same And shooting like a bot,…it’s probably a full bot squad…
a full game where no teammates or enemy uses vehicles
also, names of players that only apear once, and you find yourself fighting other human ones over and over again.
moment, I heard we got here an level/skill based match making…
any way seams to be an “alpha stage issue”, low player base, should vanish after public release as player base grow.
makes me remember, playing an “squad based MMO FPS” early in the morning with few humans on 64 server which was configured to spawn bots under certain conditions.
That game had tactical gameplay role able to issue orders to squads and bot leaded squads follow given orders .
I was in a 1 vs 4(maybe more) in the last game. I got more than 100 kills still lost the game(obviously). It’s not fun but that’s what you get when you play the game when Europe is still waking up. With the limited player base for the alpha, it’s expected. And most people choose German side and that makes things even more difficult.
I wish the devs would just open up the whole campaign for the alpha test minus the mortars. And then make faction random. That would bring balance to the game atleast in terms of human and bots participation.
To win, you don’t need frags; to win, you need to capture and hold points.
You may not make a frag but win.
And yes, AI bots need to be improved.
+1 to open the campaign, this will make it possible to test the real balance of weapons at the higher levels of the game. There is no point in testing the development / upgrading of units now.
A single human led squad cannot defend every control points. And the AI is no help at all. They do defend but they don’t move around and try to kill any advancing enemies. And I had to go around doing that to make sure no one threw a grenade and wiped them out.
But I mostly gave up on that game after the first point. Better get as many kills as I didn’t want to quit it either.
When did I ask for change in balance. I asked for change in campaign system and randomise choice of faction for the alpha test which is a work around to bringing the said balance for the alpha test(ONLY) so that people may not be discouraged from the game as people mentioned a couple of comments above. And so that testing of various elements in the game may work as smooth as expected.
And I clearly mentioned why the balance is as it is rn and why I encountered it.
As for AI behaving the way it is, it will be mostly gone once the game releases and people start filling their position. Coding AI behaviour to mimic actual humans playing the game will probably take ages.
I’ve tested softwares before that have much more frustrating issues and are not as enjoyable as this one in the process. I seriously don’t have a reason to complain about this one.
All you’ve got is a bunch of arbitrary and questionable explanations.
Do you Know it’s the entire squad going somewhere? Do you Know the player didn’t just send them somewhere as a diversion (for example) while doing something else? Do you Know he isn’t just blending in (it’s the most annoying thing about games with bots)?
Do you Know they aren’t just choosing not to use vehicles?
Do you Know they aren’t new players that played only once, were very bad at it and left without posting anything on the forum? It would make much more sense for bots to appear with the same names over and over again than the other way around.
Either way, this all sounds a bit paranoid and is a very strange thing to worry about during alpha testing.
