Imo the FG-42 should be better placed as an LMG instead of a breda. Way more balanced place since the USA didnt have an assault rifle. Also the FG-42 concept was both an assault rifle and an LMG. And my point is based more on the fact that the FG-42 was very rare and used only by paratroopers and not that the USA didnt have something equivalent
Agreed that the FG 42 should be an LMG. But it was not at all an assault rifle. The definition of an assault rifle requires the gun to shoot an intermediate cartridge. The FG 42 shoots a full size cartridge and thus cannot be an assault rifle.
I thought it had the same cartage as the StG44. Anyway not a expert on those stuff, but as a combat function i think it was something like a hybrid of an assault-rifle and an LMG
The Stg 44 uses the 7.92x33mm Kurz round, while the FG 42 uses the 7.92x57mm Mauser (also refered to as 8mm Mauser) round. Massive difference in power between the two.
No, the FG42 fires the same full sized 8mm Mauser cartrige as the Kar98k. It’s effectively a battle rifle in the same venue of the later cold war era M14, FAL, G3, etc. in that it’s able to be wielded in full auto for suppression or in close quarters, but is primarily meant to be used in semi-auto with precise aim.
Your joking… germany sucks, is basically outmatched in nearly every way in the game, and the single time germany gets something nice you want something to blow it out of the water? The panther can’t even pen the front of the jumbo…
Yeah - completely outclassed in all respected… except for CAS and all machineguns in all campaigns, FG42 and Puma in Normandy, Pz4 in Moscow, Panther in Berlin… but other than that, what have the Romans ever done for us??
I think the FG42 should be removed or heavily restricted, I’ve also never seen one in game cause German players that high of a level hardly exist in the Normandy campaign, the puma isn’t actually that great… it’s literally average, it’s a good match for the Stuart. Only the German MGs are superior and that’s because they’re unique in their insanely high rate of fire. And their close air support is balanced with that of the other factions.
Puma is faster and actually has a useful gun against the allied tanks, unlike the Stuart’s gun. In addition, while not as good as the 75mm’s, the 50mm of the Puma actually has a worthwhile HE round against infantry. The Puma is also faster. So it is considerably better than the M5 stuart.
The Panzer 3N is also better than the M8 Scott with the AFV meta in the game, seeing as the M8 gets one-shot by other tanks and ruined on most of the urban maps in the game, whereas the 3N is a mobile bunker that is at the very least the equal of the M4A2 if not superior then given the ability to sling HE faster than the Sherman against infantry while having similar armor and mobility.
The FG42 is on about 1-in-8 german players I’ve encountered in Normandy, it’s not super common, but it’s common enough that I see one, maybe two players a match generally have them on them, and when they do, it’s usually on /all/ of their soldiers.
German LMGs are superior not only due to their damage, but also their ammo capacity, which lets them hold down flanks for longer periods of time than allied gunners can, which end up playing better as just another assaulter squad, most of the time.
P38 has good rockets, BF110 has good rockets,
A20 has good bombs, JU88 has good bombs.
Am I wrong?
And yeah Your right, the Sherman’s 75 mm AP shell ricochets off the front of the puma all the time and the 75 HE never ever ever ever one shots it in the turret.
Also I’m not sure what the fact that many many more people level up the allies has to do with credibility.
