A lot of game do this with rockets, they use basic ammo with some effect

and the ships on D day are the opposite- they have MG 42s sitting on top of the turrets to do the real firing

I’ll never forget when I noticed that in Stellaris the little spot of light in the very center of a ring-galaxy was just an unmoving missile surrounded by it’s trail effect.

These particular rockets kinda look like artillery shells irl cus they’re adapted from a 21cm nebelwerfer, graphicswise you only get passing glances at the projectile so making them low polly or reusing assets is common practice and not a problem imo
