So, is this getting fixed or do I actually have to uninstall?

“Reeeeee punish punish puniiiiiish!!!”

Not until the flaws causing so many desertions, are solved.

At most, with the current flawed system and lack of reall mm or possibility to choose modes, I’d merely remove 100% xp from the players deserting.

Because, all the other games which DO have punishment, ALSO have:

  • REAL mm (not that half assed br joke)
  • balanced stacks between teams
  • options to choose game modes
  • options to choose maps.
  • bonus xp for underdogs

Enlisted got nothing. Not even a proper lobby…

Punishing desertion is exactly what helps the game most.

Yeah, that first game is gonna be shit. But the second one won’t, since the deserters won’t participate.
That’s kinda the point.

Your argument is purely manipulative.

Not at all. Just accounting for a different part. You are refering to trying to dissuade said player from doing.

I am referring to make it better for those that stay and are affected by the above when it does inevitably happen.

Not, mutually exlusive. You could do both. Im just saying what do I care that some guy I dont know got locked out for 10 minutes?, meanwhile my game was still a waste of time or absolute struggle town.

Give it some time after the implementation of the rule and see what a great result it will bring.

I can assure you it will definitely have a positive effect.

And it would be even better if it came with a 3 men per stack limit.

Show me a single game that has this desertion punishment rule and has a higher desertion rate than Enlisted.

I guess no one thinks that it will be absolutely perfect after implementation this rule.
It’s about fighting it and reducing these issues. You’ll never get rid of desertion. But it’s about not encouraging it. Which is what’s happening with the current rules.

But I understand that people are spoiled and do not want to get rid of the exploit that the current non-punished desertion brings.

I’ll keep deserting myself until they start punishing it. I’m not stupid. Why would I be a clown when everyone else can enjoy the benefits of desertion with impunity?

But implementation of such rule is definitely better for the game as a whole. And all those who oppose such a rule have purely self-interest in it.

Not disagreeing. Just saying that regardless, I would like measures to salvage a game as first preference.

Because it not only helps against leavers, but population imbalance.

Do those games also have completely dog-crap BR matchmaking?

In those games, might you be dropped into a game where the first point is lost and the second (of 5) is being taken?

In those games, might you have teammates who only sit in vehicles farming XP while you, alone, try to defend the point?

edit… Do those games have Armored Train mode or Kahif Cave Village maps that the devs refuse to stop rotating despite overwhelming disdain?

It’s always about compromises. Also, they could just introduce teams made of mixed factions and stuff like that, to solve this issue and help queues/MM.

I’d stop playing the game because of that, someone else wouldn’t mind and would enjoy it all the more.

I think desertion should have been punished from day one. And now we’re in a position where any hint of punishing desertion is viewed negatively by a large number of players, while those same players complain about unbalanced matches.

And then they say something about first fixing the reasons why players want to desert in the first place.

Which, from my point of view, is a complete argumentative foul. The primary reason they want to desert is that they are not being punished in any way for doing so. And they can roll the rng dice infinitel . And desert and roll until they find the easy win or the right match they seek for.

The game just isn’t in a position to allow players what maps etc they want to play. It just doesn’t have the resources to do so.
So arguments. “I’m deserting as I only want to play Moscow”. And as long as I’m not allowed to play Moscow only, desertion should be unpunished.
Strikes me as a completely selfish and intolerant mindset, uttered by someone who has absolutely no respect for what the game can and cannot afford.

Yes, the game might allow you to play only Moscow.
But in that case the teams would be made up primarily of bots. Or teams would be made of mixed factions mixed. Just what we talked about at the beginning.
The said player would finally be happy, but someone else would be pissed off.

That’s why I just don’t buy that argument. The game doesn’t have the resources to make everything perfect for everyone. And with the implementation of the Merge, developers have decided which direction they want to go.
Players should respect that, or stop playing the game.

And they shouldn’t abuse the desertion issue to promote something they don’t like about the game. And then claim how until their problem is solved, desertion issue should not be addressed. Because it’s not an issue on its own, it’s just a consequence (which just isn’t true, similar statements are just pure manipulation)

Unpunished desertion is a huge issue.

The funny thing is that I only remember running into you in game once. I was happy to see a familiar name in game but you deserted roughly halfway through your team’s loss.

Here.

I certainly dont want that

as for the rest of it. Am i not being clear? haha we are talking about different sides of the same coin.

Punishing desertion “maybe” it stops them, but does nothing for population unbalanced games (Ive seen as bad as starting 10 vs 1…that is extreme case)

While having something like a ingame Handicap bonus “guarantees” at least something for the underdog, whether its from deserters, or population imbalance. And like i said you could do both.

anyway. doesnt matter. Havent had a hint of anything to address the core problems anytime soon. Cant even Get BRs seperated more.

I said premerge I think that its a Catch 22, and I dont see it getting better. I would have bit the bullet and made at least 3 MM queues from the word go. I dont see the population getting any better with the current new player experience, economy and then the steam flop. My heart sinks

I missed that.

I guess I’m more of a masochist. I try not to regularly do things that I also will say others should not. It’s not always great but is a personality defect I seem mostly unable to rid myself of.

That said, I desert at times. Generally, not often but today I had some teams that deserved whatever fate they got.

My view on the matter is that punishing desertion will ultimately have only one positive impact. And it certainly shouldn’t be delayed any longer.

Everything else is, in my opinion, a slightly different discussion that only partially touches on the primary issue.

But there are enough people on this forum trying to manipulate the desertion issue into a discussion that is then about something else entirely. Although their issues with the game may be valid.

That generally means 22 players (including bots) left the game from that side. If you leave the game, your name is grayed out, not just dimmed.

Not sure how Darkflow is supposed to “fix” people leaving a game, outside of making it so you don’t want to … but life will always occur … disconnects, internet outages, phone call, someone at the door.

OK, all jokes aside…yes, people leave games for various reasons. Darkflow doesnt have control over all of them, but those that they do, they should work to minimize.

I’m not telling anyone not to do it. On the contrary. The game now encourages desertion. And players should take advantage of that. For the developers to finally realize that this is a problem that needs to be solved.

In my eyes, it’s just an exploit that the developers are aware of and they deliberately tolerate it.
Which is the worst part of the whole thing.

Easy way to solve desertion is to lock matchmaking until the match you just left ends. Or at least for that faction so you have to search for a different faction.

Or a matchmaking ban with time increases after so many desertions per day. First desertion is always free.

Normally, Im opposed to penalty mechanics … however…locking the army is an option I like actually … go play another faction

One person is giving “Ideas” to put out fires. Symptoms.

The other (me included), think that before having to put out fires, running around in a propane filled room with an open flame, is probably a thing to prevent beforehand.

What will happen if those punishments are implemented BEFORE any core issues are solved:

  • A PERMANENT and even worse “Tunisia scenario” where the entirety of the playerbase would play just one or 2 factions. Leading to ppl quitting the game even faster.

Please think, before wanting to implement restrictions and punitive measures.

i am ok with punishing desertion… after most causes that affect desertion are fixed.

  1. effective solution to prevent faction stacking and victory farming (join any bonus xp would be a small step towards this solution)
  2. map/mode selection mechanism (e.g. veto vote for most hated modes/maps)
  3. reducing influence of stacks in the game (either separate MM or max 2-3 players per stack)
  4. getting somewhat equal number of console players and pc players in both teams

maybe i forgot couple of other problems that need fix.

Exactly. Going straight for “they need to be punished!” Without fixing the reasons first Is just lazy, and blind to the real problems plaguing the game in the first place.

It just looks spiteful to me.

I want Enlisted to last longer instead.
