Snow, rain, sand, dark weather and map variations

I don’t know how the Enlisted game engine handles weather but it could be fun to change up some existing maps
Snow and Sand could obscure the map maybe even fog and dark making a battle more chaotic, also a good reason to add new cloths and a flashlight
Imagine if the map could evolve over time flooding or sand dunes adding and subtracting paths of advance, sigh probably beyond the game engine
heck thunder strikes and wind could really add to the gunfire and explosions we already have in battle as it is of course who knows

It was planned to have changing weather events, but a group of crying babies complained loudly on the forum and it was not decided to continue with it

There are a couple maps already like this. Theres a map in Moscow that always snows and theres Tunisia which is sandy and has heat haze.

It does not handle weather that well. It just makes things very murky in terms of visibility. I personally would just prefer good visibility. Its an FPS game after all and we need to see each other to play.

Honestly OP, I would love to have weather effects go the extra step on here. It could legitimately turn many maps people hate into maps people love because the night or the fog or even the rain/blizzard itself blocks the long LOS of some areas or really cool areas to contest an objective in.

Heck even I think the Airfield Map in the Normandy Campaign would be pretty fun and cool to fight in if it was a rainy foggy night setting and that map it’s not exactly a favorite of mine!

But honestly if this were to happen then it’s probably way way later down the future because after the merge there will be the aftermath to deal with first and then there are other issues that would have more concern for (like a rework for Game Modes hopefully?)

Edit: Fixed a typo

and you can expect opposite also. it would make maps that people love into hated maps.

overall maps with weather are unfriendly to vehicles that are engaging on long distances cause they are drastically reducing visibility. also it is also favoring attackers cause it is giving them cover when crossing open distances, so idk how it will affect balance.

I get where people are coming from, but realistically, weather has always been a double edged sword.

In conflicts across history, it has always been the force that adapted and used the situation to their advantage no matter what side you were on (Offense/Defense).

Interested in seeing more weather again, and maybe it is something they will try doing again in the future once they optimize everything further.

In theory weather could be used for ballance. Kind of like behemoths in BF1.
If atackers are struggling fog appears to cover their assault.

Wild idea but we have all kinds of crazy stuff so why not.

I remember when they announced they will be implementing this and I played a Moscow match where I couldn’t see because there was a ‘‘snow storm’’ it was chaotic but fun, also another instance where there was a storm on Berlin, but out of nowhere I never saw those conditions again and I read that they reverted the features because some players complain about it, hopefully they will bring back weather conditions on the future, the pacific could benefit a lot of cloudy or light rain weather

Who was against it? for what reason?

Enlisted devs got good idea, players say no?

Because not clear weather is not skillful, makes ppl motion sick and make their ears ring.
Or sth along those lines. (sarcasm)

You can play a few games as an attacker in Berlin, and you will find that the attacker really needs these.

well it is mostly soviet berlin problem and not attacker berlin problem. soviets didnt have any problem with berlin last year…

That’s because the axis countries were almost all robots before, so the Soviet Union can easily win. To give some examples: the Elbe River Ferry, the riverside of King’s Square, the crater on Goering Avenue, and the first point on William Street. They are all too empty or have many commanding shooting points, and the attackers have to pay great casualties.

Another point is that developers use the method of reducing reinforcements to balance, which also largely covers up the problems of the map itself.

I just though it would be fun beside it does not have to be every match, as for visibility it could be fun besides there are maps with plenty of cover making rifles less viable then other maps, maybe make it a rotating occurrence with lighter and heavier weather of rain snow and sand every few minutes

well i dont like berlin maps so i dont play it. problem with game is that is simultaneously giving you tools to overcome open field problem with smokes, but at the same time it is limiting you with loadout and limited number of squads when you are going to play in random map for which that loadout may or may not be good.

The “Fortified District” map on Moscow has it and its quite fun.

I agree I would like to see some different weathers, but ALSO some night maps.

Tragically, smoke bombs are really useless. Although every soldier of mine has three, its effect is very unsatisfactory. This is especially true for communication soldiers, with very long cooling time and small smoke.
