Although Enlisted’s playable maps (not to be out of bounds) are small, it would be very gratifying to sniper you to see how far you hit the target, or know how far away that window is to calculate your aim… not to mention the use of the “edges” of the map (further places) and possible larger campaigns/maps.
What you suggest is indeed cinematic, but most likely unfit for the game.
First, engagements in game are almost always at distances where bullet drop (with a sniper rifle) is nearly irrelevant. This eliminates the need for any artificial rangedinder for snipers. (With mortar it’s another story due to the totally different ballistic and lack of actual working aiming devices.)
Second, for the same reason, the bullet flight time is so brief that a real-time bullet camera would be almost unnoticeable.
Third, a cinematic “sniper kill cam” would in all likelihood be hated (or switched off) by most players. The game is quite fast paced, and the current hit/kill confirmation is all the feedback a sniper needs, so he knows he can switch to the next target ASAP.
What could be added without drawbacks is, maybe, a post-match stat showing the longest distance kill scored by the player in that match.
yes, the animation / replay is something exaggerated I know, I just added one more suggestion :P, on the question of how far did you get that kill, I think it’s very good, although it’s a quick game, the shooters have fun at long distances (it would be “more” a statistic, maybe a rating in the future?)
Uh, I forgot: all weapons, sniper rifles included, have a more or less wide random dispersion, which is even worse for non upgraded guns. It becomes evident when trying to shoot someone at distance. Unless that changes (which I highly doubt), hitting something at extreme range will still be a matter of RNG rather than skill, even as a sniper.
yes, i’ve noticed that, sometimes very rare, the more distant enemies just have to raise their sights a little bit, but it’s not much (it doesn’t really require much skill), but i have faith that in the future this will be fixed.
yep totally agree with that… the killcam makes being a sniper seriously lame when people can immediately spot you with it from like 200 meters then mark you after swapping to their next soldier…
Snipers would be more effective If your position wasn’t shown when you kill someone. General direction of incoming fire is fine but exact location is annoying
who knows they could create a perk for snipers? does not show the location?
the maps, except the Normandy wild ones, are all easy to memorize the shooter’s locations… when you take a shot it already shows which direction it came from, I don’t know why the Kill Cam
That would be awesome and is definitely needed for snipers. As well as better camouflage for them. Maybe have a few different options to add some customization to the class and have a spotter class in sniper squads that can help spot enemies
