sniper classs needs a full rework in this game i swear its borderline useless after some progress what i would change is make sniper shots invisible so after shooting someone with a sniper rifle there is no brief moment where you see who shot you nor there is not a tracer coming out your sniper rifle the second thing i would do is allow the sniper squad go further beyond enemy lines to make sniper squad zone way bigger than regular squad
They need to increase troop count to 7. Give them one additional Assaulter and Engineer or MG gunner.
I think a medic would go kinda well.
Medics sucks as they can’t carry ammo pouches
doesnt matter too much to me tbh, an engineer fixes the issue mostly
Second engineer is cool
The class is not too bad but the squad does become obsolete by BR3 with a resurgence for Axis if you rock Sniper MKBs
You can also push the frontline with the rest of the team and use a regular gun to shoot at a distance, just a thought
Stalingrad legacy squads are the best for that as you get 3x mkb42 with a nice scope that can make soviets cry in pain at mid range plus one Assaulter and one engineer (ideal to give him G43 Kurz but even with FG42 he will do fine). I still wish we would get two more troopers up to 7 as more squamates the better.
Or nvm DF post merge updated free squads so they can also have engy + assaulter.
Hmm, i think sniper squads dont need much utility- they stay back build rallies and snipe.
Instead of increasing their squad size they should get vitality perks - so they dont get killed super easily by automatic guns at distance.
Actually, putting one sniper in one of your assualter squads for German br5 is not a bad idea. Sniper stg44 and fg42 can be very useful on Berlin maps especially when defending, plenty of open space ideal for long range engagement. Just don’t use the sniper squad.
I just wish I could actually put an assaulter in my sniper squads that came with the Pacific campaign. I have no idea why they removed assaulters as an optional troop. (I think you can put a medic in them, but it takes up the same slot as an engineer, If I am remembering correctly)
For those camped long behind the front line, making 1 or 2 kills and never paying attention to the point, Snipers are useless even in BR1.
Sniper MG suppression and in-point kill should award more score while normal kill award less, to encourage players using snipers “correctly”.
And a larger (6 or 7 soldier) sniper squad of course.
Another idea is let sniper squad have an upgrade that allows snipers carry more mines, similar to the Guerrilla squads’, but only 3 mines per sniper (AP or AT).
Inspired from getting sniper equipment for paratroopers gives an additional AP mine.
this man has never felt the joy of laserbeaming everybody with the sniper fg42
Sniper class is excellent for any defense match on any BR.
Assuming you are not using BAs on BR5. (Japs/US having no true high BR rifles.)
Sniper squad above BR 2, at least for Germany, is just discount assaulter squad. I exclusively ran pseudo-assaulter sniper squad with sniper FG-42 II and/or sniper Sturmgewehr 44 instead of using traditional bolt action rifles. The chaotic spam hell nature of BR III-V demands you to use at least semi-automatic rifles to help with defense and offense.
I think people sleep on the pure power of a semi-auto sniper with even average aim. Having the ability to wipe an entire squad with a single mag should not be overlooked. Even in BR 5 I still run a squad of semi-auto snipers because of their ability to lock down a sightline, even when attacking. The squad itself is a specialist squad, like radio operators, and I don’t think it needs any more squad members which would take away its specialist squad status by tuning it to be more generalist.
The biggest problem with snipers is the fact that they are a massive noob trap. If you check out any new player trying the game on Twitch, they all say sniper is their favorite class, and that it takes too long to progress. Playing as a sniper reinforces the incorrect idea that this is a slow game where you stay away from points, whereas veterans know that the fastest way to progress is to charge into the thick of the action.
I would even go as far as to suggest removing sniper from its status as one of the 3 starting squads, and instead replacing it with the starting AT Gunner squad. Ideally, you would unlock Snipers after Engineers and before Radio Operators. This would create a healthy flow of question and answer. You start with Rifleman, say you die to a tank. Now, you already have the answer to the tank in the AT Gunner. After that, you unlock medics, which answers the logical question of “How do I kill more effectively on the point?”. After medics, you unlock engineers as the solution to medic’s low ammo capacity, and thus a healthy game loop is created.
This.
Then ppl forget how great fg42IIsniper and avs snipers are to snipe.
Axis can also turn their snipers into assaulters hybrids (Soviets and avs to some degree)
