even with ammo perk the stock amount of ammo for the sniper is too small. The starting amount should be 40 to 60.

yeah… it’s just make no sense…
i don’t understand why they just lowered the ammo in the reacent updates.
you can see that characters usually have around 6 pouches, and 6 pourches back in the days could store up to 30 clips, considering that the sniper doesn’t use clips, it should be around 60 bullets.
but yeah, for gameplay reason and balance purpouse, 40 from standard and with the perk, up to 60.
Agreed, snipers are running out of ammunition pretty fast and since bots don´t really know how to survive long enough to provide player ammunition, increasing the amount of ammo snipers can carry is only reasonable and elegant solution. It´s not really like snipers are or would be OP enough to think of this as gamebreaking change (sure, on certain maps smart sniper can shine a lot, but it´s an exception, not a rule).
