Squad AI is a core feature of Enlisted, but it still needs improvements to make battles feel more dynamic. Currently, AI soldiers often stand in the open and get wiped out too easily. Improving AI behavior by making them seek cover more effectively, spread out to avoid grenades, and flank enemies instead of running straight at them would greatly enhance gameplay. Additionally, AI should use grenades more intelligently—throwing them at proper distances rather than randomly tossing them. These improvements would make squad-based combat more tactical and rewarding while reducing frustration for players.
I get your excited as seen through the slew of forum posts all at once, however this has been widely suggested before, I for one fully support it, however for now there has been no indication from the devs they are even willing to fix the AI bugs let alone improve it… sadly.
worth a try…
It alright, Let the new bloods spam it too
There won’t be any significant improvement to AI as long as Enlisted supports old gen consoles.
I think the old gen consoles could survive a bit of a more intelligent AI, unless you mean the players, which is another story.
I would be happy if they could just get their AI IQ over a three year old, which is where it is at at the moment. I don’t see DF doing anything with the AI, or they would have already done it by now.
At the minimum, if they could just get them to mirror the human player, like run when he runs, go through a window when he goes through a window, stay where he orders them to stay and when he is in a trench, they should be in the trench, not standing at attention outside the trench offering themselves up as cannon fodder. We know DF has the ability to mirror them as when you lay down, they lay down, so why can’t they run when you run? If DF cannot at least meet the basics, we’re dreaming that they can do anything else with them.
Honestly they should just add node points that the AI can default to if they take fire, but just make sure to have the AI override that as long as the player is alive and running away.
One thing that drives me mad though which would be so fucking simple to add, if the player crouches, have the AI crouch, if the player goes prone, have the AI go prone too, not 10 seconds later. I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve lost the entire squad, except me, to a really avoidable bomb hit because the AI take an age and a half to hit the deck.
