I would like to propose that Siam (Thailand) be considered as a sub faction within the Japanese tech tree.
This is to add more content to the lacking Japanese tree and add more variety to the game, including unique tech that we wouldnt normally see in game.
There is already a Thai Ha Go in Enlisted so we have precedent.
Siam was allied with Imperial Japan during WWII and fought France in the Franco-Thai War of 1940 and according to Wikipedia fought in Burma and Malaya as well as the previously mentioned Franco-Thai War.
What I have done is copy this list of Siamese weapons as used during WWII. I have removed the Japanese weapons that are already in game.
Pistols and revolvers
I believe these Siamese additions would be especially helpful to the Japanese tree given that good sidearm options for Japan are lacking.
The Luger and C96 Mauser were used by Japan (the latter sometimes taken from China).
Some of the pistols here are American origin however they are not currently in game and Japan does have pre war American imported tech such as the Browning Auto 5.
- Astra 300
- Colt M1911
- FN M1900
- FN M1910
- FN M1903
- Luger[1]
- Colt Super[2]
- Type 80 [3](a Thai copy of the Star Model A)
- Type 82[4](copy from Colt Police Positive)
- Type 80 machine pistol[5] (based Star Copy M1911 Pistol type M)
Automatic pistols and submachine guns
While Japanese SMGs are quite good at the moment, I dont believe a Thai MP35 or MP18 would be a bad addition.
Rifles
Japan currently lacks a BR IV semi auto rifle. I believe the ZH 29 would be a good addition as we see here it was used by Thailand but was also especially used by the Chinese army so Japan would probably have captured some.
I also would consider the Swedish Mauser since we havent got one of those in game.
- Siamese Type 46 Mauser rifle (copy Gewehr 98)
- Siamese Type 46/66 Mauser rifle
- Siamese Type 47 Mauser carbine (copy Sweden Mauser)
- Siamese Type 47/66 Mauser carbine
- ZH-29[7]
Machine guns
Having another option for BR II Japan LMGs would be good as the Type 11 isnt great and the Type 97 is good but not for all situations.
Type 66 Madsen.
Armored cars
There have been suggestions previously for more armoured cars across all factions. I agree with this sentiment and have therefore kept the Vickers Morris as a Thai option, perhaps as a premium or event.
- Vickers-Morris M1931 (6 purchased)
SPAA
This could be a good SPAA option. The Ta Se isnt very good. As a long term suggestion Id add this Vickers 6 ton with pom pom AA guns as a high rank Japan SPAA and the Americans can have the M16.
- Vickers Armstrongs QF 2-pounder naval anti-aircraft gun on Vickers 6-Ton tractor (upgrade level close to the Dragon Mk IV chassis, 36 purchased)
Tankettes
Rider class option? Unlike some other tankettes the Carden Lloyd was quite exposed.
- Type 73 Carden-Loyd Mk VI tankette[19] (10 imported from England in 1930)
- Type 77 Carden-Loyd Mk VI modified tankette[20] (30 imported from England in 1934)
Tanks
Japanese tanks arent equally known as great, especially at lower tiers. A Thai Vickers 6 ton would be a good addition as we do not have a Vickers tank in game. I would assume that the Finnish model from the Swedish tech tree in War Thunder could be reused with Thai markings.
- Type 76 Vickers 6ton Mk E light tank[21] (12 imported from England in 1933)
- Type 76 Vickers-Carden-Loyd A4E12 light amphibious tank[22] (2 purchased from England in 1933)
- Type 81 Vickers 6ton Mk B light tank[23] (8 out of 12 imported from England in 1938 but the other 4 refused)
Aircraft
We see here that the Japanese captured Martin B10s from the Dutch and gave them to Thailand. An American bomber, but not currently in the Allied tree. War Thunder has both the original 1930s American version and Chinese version either which could be used with Japanese/Thai markings.
Likewise the BF2C biplane, as it is not in the Allied tree I dont see why we couldnt add it to the Japanese tree.
I dont think I would add the O2U.
I am aware that the E9W is a Japanese plane, I kept it on the list as I dont believe it is in game so may be an option.
- Avro 504 (strafing airplane, 20 imported in 1930, 50 locally produced)
- Curtiss BF2C goshawk (fighter Used 24 Made in Thailand 50 total 74 imported in 1934-1938.)
- Curtiss P-36 Hawk (fighter The Royal Thai Air Force procures 25 aircraft Only 12 units were delivered. with 23 mm air cannons. )
- Martin B-10 (bomber airplane, 6 received from USA in 1937 and 9 ex Dutch airplanes from Japan in 1943)
- Vought O2U Corsair (12 bought in 30 March 1933, 25 built in 1936, 50 more built in 1940, locally designated Type A-1 observation and attacker)
- Watanabe E9W (submarine borne airplane, 6 imported in May 1938, locally designated WS.103S)
If there are any players here from Thailand I would welcome your input as to additions youd like to see
