I find it odd that we have to cycle through the hammer and/or shovel to get to our secondary weapons.
The shovel and hammer also seem redundant. Perhaps we could have the shovel take place of the hammer for Engineers.
shovel equipped in melee weapons slot(as it does now)
Right Bumper w shovel = dig
Melee button w shovel = melee attack. Slower attack animation than the knife but more damage
Right Trigger w shovel = brings up the normal build UI overlay with the items Engi can build. Build as normal.
3 features in 1 item and we have one less item(no more hammer) to cycle through in our weapon inventory.
For all NON Engineer classes the shovel would work the same but no build options. It can dig via dig hotkey and can also be a lethal melee weapon via melee hotkey.
Not currently. The Devs would just need to add a melee animation for shovel and proper damage.
Currently when we melee with shovel it just does the dig animation. Shovel also digs with the fire button. So we could have a melee attack bound to the melee button for the shovel.
