Shouldn´t the "chi ha" be in the techtree instead of premium?

Hello comrades!

I am no expert in japanese military vehicles at all, but i recognize at least the Chi-Ha. Wasn´t it like one of the most used and iconic tanks of japan during WW2? I could be wrong, but i´d bet that it is.
So my question is, why is it premium instead of tech tree?

I remember it also from Battlefield V. It was one of my favorite tanks there

yes.

yes it should.

but someone at the higher ups disagreed about such idea.
it would be probably one of the low br tanks that would do something.
still… not that great against shermans, but.

Because it was one of the few actually HMG bulletproof tanks available to japan before the HO-I was added to TT.

Chi-ha: 1162 was built → Premium
Ho-Ri: may not be built → TT

Same could be asked from stug 3g and valentine. The most produced tanks of their nations and they are premium

I suspect it was placed as premium because the devs had a specific idea of what equipment they wanted used in a given campaign. THEN they got rid of campaigns and went to BR, and found themselves painted in to a corner. People who paid for the Chi-Ha would demand refunds, stop playing, complain six ways from Sunday, and generally make hysterical accusations if people could now just, you know, play game to get it.

I’d be happy if they just made the I-Go TT. It’s a tin can, but at least it has a decent main gun.

I have a feeling that dev deliberately add bad tank to Japan in Pacific campaign so they can sell their premium tank.

You see that all campaign level Japanese tank before Ho-I was released in Pacific campaign are terrible against infantry and have paper armor.

Now they generate the problem: Adding M13 as US starter tank so that those paper armor tank are easily killed.

Then they present Chi Ha which is the perfect solution for this since it is useful against infantry, can’t be pen by M13 from front, not too powerful so US player won’t complain.

Moreover a strange thing for Pacific campaign level is the multiple similar tanks it has. There is literally 3 37mm cannon tank with no HE shell and has paper armor in the campaign.
It feels like those tanks are filler, so you will need to spend more time to reach powerful tank at higher level.
It will further encourage you to buy Chi Ha, if you can’t wait.

It should just get the pz4 G treatment, the premium gets unique cosmetics while a standard one gets added to the tech tree.

If Ho-Ri were put in as premium, people would cry that it is both ahistoric AND that the game is undeniably pay-to-win

Firefly, Matilda, Churchill (why do we only have a single variant?), premium Stugs

They could add Ho-ri with weaker armor as a premium.

I’m talking about a scenario in which there would be no free way of getting a Ho-Ri in the tech-tree and the only way to get it is to buy a premium squad.

Besides, who would pay for a weaker Ho-Ri?

ho-ri II as premiun and Ho-Ri proto as event

Players that run multiple tank squad.
Moreover it is not like all premium tank are the strongest tank in the br it belongs.

You could circle two strong tanks so it’s the same situation as King Tiger and Jagdpanther, KT will be obviously way better but you can still play just fine with Jgpt especially against downtiers.
